IF YOURE NOT WILLING TO PUT IN THE EFFORT... DONT EXPECT THE RETURN You could not wipe the smile off my face yesterday when I was FINALLY able to squat with the bar with GOOD form! For the past few weeks I’ve been doing a LOT of work to get my squat back on track so I can start loading up the bar with some big girl weights once again!
To get back under the bar I’ve been doing:
- a lot of body weight squats focusing on good form
- incorporating a lot of lower back/abdominal exercises to turn my weaknesses into strengths (reverse hyper extensions, hollow rocks, plank variations, supermans) - practising correct breathing & bracing techniques - making sure my body is able to get into the positions of the lifts.. that means prioritising warming up & mobilising
Whilst I not be able to crack that 90kilo squat anytime soon I’m so happy to see that my efforts are paying off & every day I’m getting just that little bit closer I could’ve EASILY ignored what my body was telling me & the advice of others & kept doing my thing.. i might’ve gotten that 90kg squat but I probably also would’ve gotten a bulged disc too PLUS would be promoting a lot of ideas I don’t want to promote.
Long term effort = long term reward. The sustainable approach is ALWAYS the right approach. #gtthobart#thegrounduppt
