Straight out the gate - this isn't shade, having, ehem, expressed my dissatisfaction with their non-meat options, the folks at @toltecaireland offered to try change my mind. And in short, it was. Veggie options are better than most - however still have a way to go.
Allergens weren't on the website, at least so far as my vegan sister could find. They were immediately visible inside the door however (swipe left)
The pinto beans are cooked in bacon, the communication of this is inconsistent depending on the platform you order from. Now I'm not a chef but salt and smoked paprika would give the same effect, and then it would make an extra protein source available to non-meat orders
Did you spot the milk allergen by the white rice? Yes, there's butter in the white rice. Was news to me too. Reason for this I don't know, it's also not something communicated outside of the allergen menu. Again, not sure why, salt would give similar flavour, or switching the basmati for long grain would give more stickiness. Sneaky dairy inclusions are the bane of not only vegan diets, but dairy allergies and also the likes of myself who limit their intake for skin/health reasons
The grilled veg (peppers and onions) are great, and come at no extra charge unlike some places, but if you're having a purely plant powered meal (i.e. no soy pieces, see below) they're very samey compared to everywhere else, couple extra roast veg or free guacamole wouldn't go amiss OR
It's baffelling that the potato option you see all over Mexican restaurants in the likes of San Diego hasn't caught on here. Somebody get on that quickly please!! High point? The Soya Bites!! @leannewoodfull alerted me to these and I'll be forever greatful. You wouldn't know they exist unless you go in-store - these need to be shouted from the rooftops. I'm not aware of anyone else doing similar. They're vegan friendly mini meatballs in a mildly spicey sauce. Sister has absolutely zero tolerance for spice and found the heat creeped up on her, I thought they were delicious. Excellent with guacamole. More of this please!
Solid 8 out of 10 - better option than many, but a few changes and it would open up
