Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (1989-1996)
The Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo the wowed customers back in 1989 as it changed its styling dramatically from its predecessors, the 280Z. It changed stylistically and was all the better for it but it never sold as well as it should.
Nissan had a pretty boring reputation at the time and too many of their cars lacked sex appeal. Favourable comparisons with Porsche were made, both stylistically and dynamically, but too many people ignored this car when it was new, despite many glowing reviews from the press.
When you look beyond the badge, the Nissan Z32 is a fantastic driver’s car with stupendous levels of grip and strong overall performance. Thanks to intercooling and a single turbo for each cylinder bank, it produced 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.the 0-60mph time was dispatched in 5.8 seconds and top speed was 150mph. The noise, looks and performance are addictive and this makes a wonderful GT car for long trips between cities.
Like the previous three generations of Z-car, the nissan 300ZX came as a two-seat or 2+2, but the twin turbos make it a very quick car but also tractable and easy to drive, especially around town.
The (Z32) looks great, its seriously quick even for today, very comfortable and handles like a proper rear-drive sports car should. The current Nissan 370Z is helping revive the reputation of the earlier ZX cars and people are finally taking the 300ZX as seriously as it deserves.
