Our #queerhistorymonday hero this week is none other than Bayard Rustin. -
The civil rights activist and close advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King spent 60 days in jail after he was arrested for engaging in homosexual activity in public. -
Rustin is often credited for defending gay rights throughout his life, and in order to legalize his partnership with Walter Naegle, Rustin ended up adopting his partner in 1982, therefore making their partnership legal in some way.
