Bánh dày is one of the oldest Viet foods. The story goes that during the 6th dynasty of Vietnam, a competition was held among the 18 princes to see who could create the most meaningful item - that person would become Emperor. The youngest prince, who didn't have as many resources as his older brothers but who deeply loved his country, struggled to come up with an idea. In a dream one night, a spirit told him to use the most valuable ingredient Vietnam has to offer, #RICE. The prince made two dishes, one of which is this, a rice flour mochi shaped round to represent the sun, the source of life on Earth! He won! And now it is commonly eaten with fried pork sausage. #chảlụa #vietnamesefood #vietculture #littlesaigonseattle find these bad boys at Saigon Vietnam Deli in Jackson Plaza.
