I’ve been on vacations - but nothing quite like this. Vietnam is such an exotic location - we hardly realise it. I still remember the first time I decided to put Vietnam on my bucket list - I was watching a show where Chef Luke Nyugen @lukenguyencooks - explores the food of his home country! The green tomato salad is a recipe I took down and tried and it was pretty amazing. And the country itself continues to mesmerise. We went on a day trip to Ninh Binh - where we understood a little more about the history of Vietnam and visited temples and Tam Coc (three caves) on a river boat ride. Definitely an experience to remember! #vietnamcharm#govietnam#vietnam2018#vietnamtourism#riotofflavoursinvietnam#culinaryblog#culinaryblogger
Could you ever imagine a train passing through here ?! Well... it did! Definitely one of my top 5 experiences ever! This narrow street twice a day has a huge train pass by narrowly missing houses and spectators
Could you live on the edge?!
Over the last few days we have been north of Hanoi doing a cruise in Bai Tu Long Bay, which is next to the now tourist crazy and semi wrecked Halong Bay. According to legend, an immense dragon descended to Hạ Long Bay (meaning ‘’Descending Dragon’’). As she returned to heaven, she said good bye to her offspring at the Bái Tử Long Bay (means "The dragon parts the offspring"). I kind of believe this as it’s very Game of Thrones like cruising in and around the hundreds of Islands. We went on the 2 day and 1 night trip with Indochina Junk and couldn’t have been more happier with it. It was half full as it’s off season and they have the rights to a certain area of the Bay, meaning we were the only boat around for the first day of the trip, which was a massive positive for us. The rooms were straight and the food was . Every meal was a tasting menu of local seafood, meats and booze. After lunch on Day 1 we spent time in the Kayaks and had an hour or so paddling around the islands, whilst Laura trying to convince me that she did rowing at school for a few years. Her technique and stamina suggested otherwise. We then pulled up on a private beach and had a few wets while taking in the amazing scenery of the layered Islands on the horizon. We then headed back to the boat to take in the sunset while having an amazing feed and a few glasses of red. To top it off we had the whole crew and all the guests present us with a cake for our honeymoon which was classic. The next day we went and checked out some caves and then cruised back to Halong. All and all, it was a great trip and was better than expected. Would recommend Bai Tu Long Bay and Indochina Junk.
