Oh yes this is the stuff! Been wanting to try the wines from legendary natural winemaker Sebastian Riffault for quite a while. The little fella in the background is an homage to @frank_n_wine 😉
A true wine wizard, Riffault makes absolutely divine wine from beautiful Sancerre, Loire. He is known for harvesting his grapes later than the norm, which means they often get botrytis!
This is the 2015 "Les Quarterons" made from 100% organic Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes comes from 30 year old vineyards consisting of clay and limestone.
It undergoes natural yeast fermentation in steel tanks, and spends 2 years in steel tanks before release. It's unfined, unfiltered and recieves no added SO2.
Tasted in Gabriel Gold
In the glass: Golden with greenish tint
In the nose: Exotic fruits, ripe passionfruit, lychee, lemon peel, some stonefruit. There's a bit of green sensation too.
On the palate: Superb mouthfeel, crisp and mouthwatering acidity, seriously well-balanced fruit and just the slightest sensation of sweetnees. Ending with a long and lasting slight bitter finish. Notes of freshly squished lemons, candied peaches, crushed rocks and a bit of green bell peppers.
This was freakin magical, a true mythical and ethereal drinking experience!!
