So I'm generally a very happy, motivated, & enthusiastic person. But like most peeps, I get the occasional blues. When the blues last for longer than a month, however, I know something is wrong. Lately, I've had no "mojo". Don't wanna work (I love my job) & sleeping "late". I quickly realized, something was "off". Like way off.
So as is normal for a fitness coach, I started scanning my food choices.
Increased Sugar? Check.
Decreased fruit? Check.
Increased simple carbs? Yup.
Increased alcohol intake? Guilty.
Cravings that just take over my mind? Omagosh. YAAAAS.
But as I went thru everything else, it just didn't seem like enough to bring on mild depression. I was exercising regularly, eating good with everything else. Hadn't gained weight. In fact, my thighs and abs were getting smaller as my mileage was getting larger. I had recently had iron infusions for my anemia. So I dug a little deeper.
Went online and the answer SMACKED me in my head. Like, I literally face palmed myself. 🤦🏽♀️It was lack of Vitamin D.
During the summer I had stopped taking my Vitamin D supplement in my nutrition shake each morning. I figured with being outside I was fine. But between my anemia, the shorter days, & my darker skin, I think that proved to be an unwise course. 🤦🏽♀️I had also stopped taking my omega 3 supplements. This was causing my ADD to go haywire. (If you have ADD, get on Omega3s RIGHT. NOW.)
Guys, both Vitamin D and Omega3s play HUGE roles in hormones production, metabolism, brain health, & FOCUS. All things that go haywire with depression.
So what about me? Well this morning as we watched the news... I could "handle it". In ONE day, I feel different. More stable. So take it from me! Don't skip the VitaminD3! And Take your Omega3!
