Visiting a family-owned kiln and shop nestled high in the Karkas mountains. What a delight to see such beauty produced by hand, and great knowing that my purchases directly benefit this family. —
When I travel, I usually buy edible products as I don’t enjoy ‘stuff’, and only travel with hand luggage. But, I have a friend who, let’s say, is not particularly open-minded and was deeply-concerned about my safety in Iran. I bought a single object, which he now keeps in his living room, as a simple (and daily) reminder that beauty can originate anywhere, and maybe we need to be more fearful of the fact that we have been indoctrinated with beliefs that do not serve us or society at large, than the “other”.
