Together with Tomoka Nakamura, a 72-seasons chef, we present to you our humble collaboration of kitchenware, itadakimasu!
Chefs and leather craftsmen possess two different skill sets but share a philosophical commonality - both bring purpose and functionality to Mother Nature’s gift of life. Using both meat and skin from the same animals, we maximise the life we have received by recreating them into food and tools in our workspaces. To show gratitude, the Japanese say ‘いただきます (itadakimasu)’ - to give thanks.
It is a moment to pause and think about the sun, the air, the water, and the soils which provided growth for the crops and animals; the farmers and tanners who worked in the fields and tanneries every day despite harsh weather conditions; and the transport workers who spent long hours on roads before the products do their line up on shelves at supermarkets and with our suppliers.
With the thought of bringing natural elements back into the modern kitchen, this 6-piece collection is designed to assist and accompany you while you create beautiful food. Made using naturally tanned leathers that are produced in respect to our environment, undyed linens, and stitched together by hand, we hope these tools make your environment a little warmer, serving as a reminder to always say ITADAKIMASU!
