I’m not sure what it says about me that my first thought when I stumbled across “The First Temple Of Universal Law” was “OoOoOOooh is it a cult?!!” This little mid-century gem is tucked back against the river, deep in a residential neighborhood on Chicago’s north side. The sign says it’s temporarily (permanently?) closed, though, so I had to ask the internet whether it was real and the internet said, “The Temple of Universal Law is a Spiritualist church founded in 1936 by the Rev. Charlotte Bright. Bright was a medium whose spirit guide "Master Nicidemus" was considered to be a member of the Great White Brotherhood, that group of evolved disembodied entities who are believed to guide the destiny of the human race.” So... that’s a definite maybe!!
