Education day for me in knowing that I still have a lot to learn.
Painted in acrylic, did the sea background first and let it dry.
Then tried to brush stroke the seaweed but still not satisfied.
Had a walk on the cliffs at Porthcothan.
Came home and finished touching it up with my trusty watercolour pencils.
I wanted to create this wonderful underwater image but there's me always thinking it's meant to be photographic perfect and aiming for that and that is probably my stumbling block, or is it?
Love seaweed, love the smell, love where it lives, love making things with it, love the atmosphere it creates in the water.
Especially like kelp, in its large brown belt like strands lapping away under the waves. Dried up it has umami flavour that can be used to enhance flavour in cookery, dashi stock or a savoury meaty flavour added into stews etc.
Also seaweed is really good for you x
