Aman Nath and Francis Wacziarg most unexpectedly met on a filming tour in Rajasthan, thanks to the common interest in Indian heritage.
In 1986 they visited Neemrana Fort Palace studying wall frescos. Looted by the villagers the Raja was not able to maintain the fort in its original might. The duo struck a deal to acquire the fort, much of a crumbling ruin, at a cost of 7 Lakhs.
Undecided on what use they’d put the fort to, they began calling investors and art curators looking out for suitable business propositions. Meanwhile, their friends and families visited the fort and spent some quality time at the fort palace. Their experiences and suggestions led them to use the fort as a heritage hotel, and our accidental hoteliers, with no earlier business experience, have never looked back since.
