Morning rituals ~ what’s yours?
I used to think morning rituals just fell into place because we got, we did what we had to before heading off to work, and BAM morning ritual created 🤦🏽‍♀️. .
It’s not until I filled my mornings with intentional and meaningful activities that I discovered the true meaning, and true benefit, of having a morning ritual. .
For me, what I do of a morning sets up my whole day. If I’m late and rushed and I skip out on certain habits, I feel rushed the entire day, and almost a little incomplete. Some days, the rush is unavoidable but I try my best to make most days slower and filled with morning rituals that brighten my day. .
Some of my favourite ways to bring in the new day include: 🌻 morning workouts - whether it’s in the gym or outside, I always make sure I can see the sky to watch the dawn sky. It’s my FAVE 😍 🌻 🎶 music - for me, it can be a slow or fast song, as long as it sparks some emotion, it brightens my day! 🌻 gratitude - sneaking 5-10mins of deep thought or slowed breathing makes you extremely grateful to welcome in a new day. I’m not an expert at meditation, but the slower thoughts and breaths are my form of meditation 💕 🌻 nutrition and supplements - whether I’m fasting that morning or not, I always have a herbal tea and take my 3 go to supplements: zinc, magnesium and probiotics 🌻 smiles and love - I don’t understand how anyone can wake and be grumpy 🙈 you’ve just been given another day to live life, what’s there to be grumpy about? 🤷🏽‍♀️ I try to make sure I send good vibes around the house and ALWAYS kiss my husband goodbye and wish my family a good day. It takes nothing extra to be kind and happy, why not spread it around! .
It may not be scientific fact, but for me, opening the day with nourishing rituals makes the biggest different in the world. ✨What’s your morning rituals? ✨ 📸: @larileonte - some morning motivation 💕

This really weird thing happened last night while I was googling what piece of produce a 24 week baby is the same size as....it’s a thing.. Trust me 😅 Anyway.. I stumbled upon a list of “Common 24 week Pregnancy Symptoms” They include but are not limited to: backaches, constipation, leg cramps, and swollen achy feet. And I was all nope, nope, nope, am I even pregnant?? Then I was promptly kicked in the bladder and almost peed my pants 😅 #definitelypregnant Then I realized.. pregnancy doesn’t HAVE to be miserable. You don’t HAVE to fight through terrible symptoms for months on end. It’s not NORMAL to take 2 hours to fall asleep and wake up all night long. It’s not okay for you to feel like you’re failing as a parent bc you’re not!! Heal your gut. Take the chance. Find the health you probably don’t even realize you’re missing because you’ve felt so bad for so long. Mom went out last night. She fed us before she left because Dad was cutting grass. He came in late for dinner. He asked Sadie and I if we had been fed. We wagged our tails and tried to look hungry. I guess it worked! We had 2 dinners! Dad thinks 2 dinners are better than no dinner. He is right! Today, we both farted and pooped a lot. Well, Sadie always poops a lot. Then I got a bath. I thought I smelled great after I rolled in something yesterday. Mom disagreed.

My mother just sent me this postcard that nearly killed me. These garama garam bhaiya kebabs are umami, juicy and tender. The plate on top consists of the most delicious and fatty afghani tikkas I’ve ever had in Lahore. This takes me back.

A few side profile shots of Ellie who is with us now since early january so that's about 4,5 months now. On blacks cats it is usually a significant sign of good health that their fur looks shiny reflecting the strong light of the sun or overcast clouds. I think that is the case here 😸... She is getting around 1 year of age now but looks a bit older sizewise... Yes she eats rather well and with good taste so that makes her look well fed as we say kindly 😹. But having pleasure of eating well and enjoying good food is one of the major pleasures in life, so long ago we committed to not cutting back on that too much... 😻😻😻

Let’s see... there’s a leak under our kitchen sink so for about three days I’ve been washing produce in the shower and dishes in the bathroom sink. Someone yelled at me here on Instagram yesterday, and I felt sad. I couldn’t sleep last night because the rain was very loud, but it was too hot to close the windows. And this morning, when I went out for a run, I almost got crushed by a car, there was loud construction on my my favorite route to the park, and a bird pooped on my arm while I was complaining about the construction.

I’m definitely having a day.

Bosu Ball Workout 🔵
I always try to find ways to spice up my workouts, especially those in the gym because let’s be honest, sometimes they can become uninspiring and mundane 🙈 .
The other morning I grabbed the bosu ball and created a quick HIIT circuit & AMRAP (as many reps as possible). Why the bosu ball? Two main reasons: 1️⃣ I wanted to rock my core during this workout and unstable surfaces do this very well 👌🏽 2️⃣ the bosu ball was in my spot on the gym floor so why not! 🤷🏽‍♀️😆

Here’s the workout breakdown:
10mins AMRAP each circuit, 1MIN rest between circuits
Circuit 1
- bosu ball plank 45sec - push ups x 12 - bosu ball burpees x12 - jackknifes on bosu ball x12
Circuit 2 - heels raised on B.B. squats x12 - lunges with rear foot on B.B. x12 - squat pulses on B.B. x12 - side crunch on B.B. x12 each side
Circuit 3 - foot taps to B.B. x40 - star jumps x 20 - lateral hops over B.B. x20
- leg raises x 20 .

I don’t love before and afters for reasons I’ve explained previously..... but today I compared blood tests from 2016 to 2018.
The results of the blood tests are ten times more exciting than my physical transformation but a photo of a piece of paper doesn’t do it justice. So here goes:
My cholesterol has dropped by one hundred points from 265 to 165. I cut over half my LDL levels from 187 to 90. And I dropped my A1C from being a half a percent away from diabetic down to 4 with 3 being the low normal range.
I WAS KILLING MY ORGANS. I was asking for a HEART ATTACK, my body was at extreme risk for a STROKE, HEART DISEASE and TYPE 2 DIABETES were knocking on my door. It started with the goal of accomplishing one round of @whole30 which ended up teaching me boat loads about the effects of putting real food vs processed food into my body. From there it evolved to making many other small changes, one at a time. No one thing equates to a “magic fix” and it has taken close to two years of change in choices. And MY ORGANS ARE COMING BACK TO LIFE and I care way more about seeing my lab numbers change than seeing the scale numbers change.
Today I’ll take my heart for a run to thank it for not giving up on me when I was abusing it so badly. 🖤❤️
