(🇭🇺⬇️) Peanut butter banana bread. That’s pretty much all I have to say about this one.😄 It’s a simple treat that I make every time I manage to save up enough overripe bananas... Which is not often because we go through fresh bananas sooo quickly!😅 I’m really excited to share the recipe with you guys soon.

I seem to have lost the ability to sleep and am currently existing on a diet of coffee, oats, and post-run endorphins. This morning's example: gentle 4 mile jog, followed by baked raspberry porridge, and a vat of milky coffee. I soaked my oats with almond milk, ground flax seeds, cinnamon, almond butter and raisins, then stirred through fresh raspberries and topped with coconut sugar, then baked for 25 minutes. Yum. .

Recipe for 2
1 block tofu firm or silken
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 black pepper
Pinch of sea salt
Add tofu to a frying pan with all ingredients, mix well & cook for 3 mins.
Optional:
Rye bread toasted
1 avocado, figs & sprouts .

Easy peasy snack: CHOCOLATE CINNAMON POPCORN 🍿🍫 Popped 1/3 cup of kernels, drizzled some melted vegan butter and tossed in half a tablespoon of cacao powder, a few shakes of cinnamon powder and a drizzle of maple syrup. Make it oil-free by skipping the butter.

A little sleepless night calls for pancakes at 4 am 🥞 I’ve been craving them for a while so since they’re so easy I couldn’t resist to make them : ✔️ 2 ripe bananas

What a wonderful Friday evening ❤️ it’s always such a treat when these two come visit, even if I’m now four days into feeling like rubbish and this was three day old hair 🙌🏼👌🏼 So if I can say so myself, I cooked up a little storm! 🌟
For starters we had a hoisin pork and bacon meatloaf on a bed of tabbouleh. For mains, cod, prawn and chorizo (from @ovalfarmersmarket of course), slow cooked for hours and served with some soy tender stem and crispy potatoes!

“Fish oils do nothing, so should I still take a pollutant-free omega-3 capsule?” I’ve been asked this since a new scientific review placed a big nail in the coffin of the fish oil industry earlier this week.
.
The independent Cochrane Collaboration just released their comprehensive review of the impact of long-chain omega-3 oils (from fish or fish oil) and short-chain omega-3 oils (from plant-based sources including walnuts, chia seeds, linseeds and canola oil) on cardiac health and stroke.
.
They included data from 79 randomised-controlled trials covering 112,059 participants
.
The verdict: supplementing with fish or fish oil capsules had no impact on the risk of cardiovascular events, coronary heart events, deaths due to cardiac disease, stroke or irregular heart rhythms
.
But some good news for fans of getting plant-based omega-3’s from walnuts and chia seeds. Adding these to the diet saw a decrease in irregular heart rhythms and possible reductions in cardiac events and cardiac deaths.
.
Previous Cochrane reviews have shown a similar lack of evidence for fish oil in Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, peripheral vascular disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s dementia and cancer-related weight loss.
.
Despite this, most of the media reports covering this new study concluded by reminding us all that we should “keep eating fish anyway because it’s healthy”. Confused?
.
This is because the new study predominantly considered people who already had heart disease. Previous studies not included by the review indicate that including 200-400mg of long-chain omega-3’s (DHA & EPA) in your diet is likely to reduce your risk of developing heart problems in the first place
.
So despite a very generous dollop of chia jam with my breakfast, I will still be taking my daily dose of pollutant-free algae oil.

The pro-inflammatory metabolites of arachidonic acid from animal products are involved in more than just neuroinflammation. They also appear to play a role in cancer, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune disorders. For example, last year, we discovered eating at a lot of arachidonic acid may quadruple our risk of developing the inflammatory bowel disease ulcerative colitis. The anti-inflammatory effects of a low arachidonic acid diet may help explain why patients with rheumatoid arthritis improve on a vegetarian diet.

3-INGREDIENT FALAFELS 🙌

Ingredients:
1️⃣ can chickpeas, drained
2️⃣ small handfuls spinach
1️⃣ clove garlic
1️⃣ tbsp tahini (optional!)

Method:
1) Blend all the ingredients in a food processor, possibly adding a few tbsp of water to help blend the mixture
2) Scoop out about 1tbsp of the blended mixture and roll it into a ball using your hands
3) Repeat until all the mixture has been used up
4) Bake at 200° C for 35-40 minutes

👊🏽 I swear I’ve been looking for an easy falafel recipe for YEARS but could never find one, so, yesterday, I decided to just try this out and see what happened...
🤝Result = AMAZING!
👌🏽These were honestly so so delicious and they remained moist on the inside but crispy on the outside
❣️One thing to note is that they tasted very garlic-y which I loved because I live garlic, but if you’re less of a fan feel free to use 1/2 a clove or none at all!

Dinner from yesterday 🙂 this is one of my favourites! Collard wraps (absolutely ESSENTIAL they’re stuffed full with goodies!) It’s super healthy but I genuinely really really like it as much as regular wraps, plus you can eat even more of them! I softened enormous collard leaves and filled them full of a very strange combination: a can of beans blended until creamy with pickled ginger and lots of peanut butter powder for a peanut satay flavour, then I steamed half a bag of ‘casserole veggies’ that I got reduced from Tesco and it was full of carrot, swede, baby white potatoes, and onion, and I then mixed this all into the bean mush once soft. Dolloped this mixture inside all the wraps alongside sliced cucumber, red crunchy pepper, spring onion, and sliced sweet gherkins! Dinner was a quick cook with rice, green peas, roasted carrots and roasted cherry tomatoes, garbonzos beans, kale, herbs and lemon juice splashed through. Should add sesame oil. The almost daily process of sauteing chard - chop the garlic, slice the onions and ready the leaves. But tonight, I'm adding lemon and lemon zest for a more delicate touch...plus chili flakes to counter the acidic addition of the lemons. I honestly cannot get enough sauteed greens - they are just so delicious. •

Portland day 3 was treating us right! We kicked it off the a great start with a delicious brunch at @offthegriddlepdx it was definitely my favourite stop of the trip to be honest. We had the waffles which were made from blue corn, gluten free and surprisingly amazing especially when topped with fresh berries, powdered sugar and cream. We also got their brunch plate that was literally a dream it had my favourite type of hash browns (shredded of course) topped with the best vegan breakfast sausage I have tried to date,tofu scramble, doughy biscuits, tomatoes, spinach, insanely creamy hollandaise and we added on a side of tempeh bacon (which rocked as well of course) No wonder this place was a local favourite!! To end off our trip we headed to the vegan mini mall and @sweetpeabaking for a delicious peach danish and awesome grocery finds at @ffgrocery!

🍫Black bean brownies🍫
... with an almond butter swirl , @ombarchocolate chunks (& topped with lots of pretty edible flowers.) This is a super indulgent rich brownie. It only has a small amount of buckwheat flour so the black beans make up the bulk of it! Making them super moist and squidgy. My fave. 👌🏻Now I will be spending the rest of my Friday evening cwtched up and scoffing my face with these!
