Way back around the turn of the century car colors were actually pretty spectacular. But the process was expensive and the paint took weeks to dry.
That long, expensive process is what prompted auto makers to develop asphalt-based baked enamels for cars — dark colors lasted longer, it fit in with the assembly line process and didn’t take as long to dry. But we all know things change, thank goodness, and spectacular colors are back to stay!💥💯
