There was a time when I wondered if I deserved to be happy. If you listen to and follow your soul, happiness comes. Today is my 20th anniversary of being married to my best friend and I get the privilege of raising and teaching my son. I also live in the home of my dreams. Sometimes I even get coffee and books and some quiet time to enjoy them. I am happy. .

Let’s talk about #whatieatinaday today shall we? I know Instagram can make it seem like everyone is eating glamorous food for every meal. While I LOVE pretty pictures of food some days it’s just about getting food that: 👉🏻A. Feeds me (because I get hungry)
👉🏻B. Is real food I feel good about that also makes me feel good
👉🏻C. Tastes good 😋because, yes food should taste good.

I have busy days but I don’t let the busy deter me from eating A,B, and C 🤷🏻‍♀️
...
Here’s my incredibly random day:
- Coffee at 5am because I coach 530-730 but mostly because coffee (+ sips of water from water foundation)
- Grande flat white while meeting at @starbucks with @upstate_foodie518 - Greek Yogurt+ 1/2 Apple + @bienasnacks + peanut butter
- @latortillafactory with smoked salmon, hummus, veggies & a side of @goodthins crackers
- Some water with @nuunhydration and some more with @naturalvitalityofficial magnesium - pumpkin seeds from @traderjoes - Cauliflower gnocchi concoction with veggies, marinara & sausage
- Bamba because I need no excuse 🤷🏻‍♀️

Go ahead count my macros but the lesson here is random works as long as it makes you feel good, tastes good and feeds your hunger (not starves or overfills it) 👋🏻

I FINALLY see cooler temps in the forecast (fall - is that you?!) and it has me so excited for soup season.

This potato soup from @skinnytaste is my FAVORITE to make! I even swap plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for some extra nutritional benefits.

This recipe has a secret ingredient that is the big "hidden veggie" of 2018: Cauliflower.

Unfortunately, I hate the smell of it and dealing with it in general but thanks to the amazing invention of frozen riced cauliflower, this will be a lot easier to make now!

We often put our diets off until Monday, the 1st of the month, etc. we will find every excuse as to why we aren't reaching our health goals. We hope that a magic pill, or a new program/challenge, or even a new way of eating will be the cure-all. It might be a piece of the puzzle but most of the time it's not the quick fix we had hoped it’d be. ...
🚨 Here’s the cold hard truth🚨
👉🏻We have to stop putting our health outcomes solely on someone else. ..⠀
Take ownership of your health and put YOUR health above everything else. This doesn't make you selfish, it makes you human and available to help others (because you'll be healthy). Don't expect someone else to show up for your health if you don't. Leave your health in your hands and understand it's not a linear path, it's a squiggly hot mess express.

Today’s edition of What I Ate Wednesday does in fact not have this beauty 😉... but I sure wish it did! 🍍 🍍
While I love ❤️ a good quiche, I haven’t had a ton of patience to make them lately. Read I’m all about the convenience of hard boiled eggs from @costco these days 😆!

But, here’s the deal. Whether I’m eating this deliciousness or a not so pretty but equally amazing egg 🥚 sandwich, I’m getting not only a dose of choline but also vitamin D and a slew of other nutrients as well. The caveat though is since I’m doing a mix of breastfeeding and pumping with H, she’s not getting enough vitamin D from me, despite how many eggs and fortified dairy products I eat!

Hence while I take my morning supplements H also gets her morning dose of vitamin D in her bottle 🍼 ! According to the CDC, breastfed or partially breastfed infants should receive 400 IU of vitamin D a day starting in the first few days of life! 🍍 🍍

Do you know what the two things are that excite my girls most about eating out? Number one is MILK and number two would be French fries.

What I love most? Finding something inexpensive that is quick, nutritious, filling, and toddler approved.

Our Tuesdays are very busy with preschool, swim lessons and dance (often followed by soccer for mom and dad!), and we tend to eat a meal or two in the car due to time restraints and skipping any sort of quiet time.

Thanks to @wendys and @shamrockfarmsmilk, the girls had an early dinner between dance and swim - fries (and apples!) and milk included 😉. What do your kids look forward to when they go out to eat? Are they milk lovers like my girls are? #sponsored

I had a Bagel and Pizza in the same day! It wasn't gluten free, low carb, low fat, low sodium, low sugar, sugar free, fat free, zero points, low calorie, calorie free, taste free, nutrient dense, nutrient-less or UNHEALTHY! 🤪

I can, however, name 100 things you are probably doing that are way less helpful to your health than CARBS. Unfortunately, the instant gratification of weight-loss and pounds of bacon have stated otherwise.
