We spent most of yesterday cutting willow. We only grow the big coloured varieties, not so many of the plain green fine basket-making varieties. They are very beautiful and lovely to work with - we use them fresh, while they’ve still got lots of colour.
These will be going off for Christmas wreaths, my own workshops here and in collaboration with @emma_bridgewater Factory in Stoke. Some already went to make some amazing sculptures by the very talented and lovely @twigtwisters, and some will go for living willow structures in the new year. If we have any left, we use them to make fences around the garden. Such an amazingly versatile plant.
