Oswego County, NY
While the Northwestern region of New York is relatively flat, erosion still allows for some unique geological formations. This is true of Salmon River Falls which formed as a result of two types of bedrock eroding at different rates. At the top of the falls lies sandstone which is resistant to erosion compared to the shale at the bottom of the falls. As a result, the softer shale eroded away, creating the falls we see today.
