It's not technically Thursday anymore but who really cares.
This a Zombie Apocalypse room I did with my old boss. The client wanted a bunk room for his young kids, and decided on a Zombie Apocalypse theme. The bunks are all solid poplar, the walls on the bunk sides are nickel gap tounge and groove. I didn't get a great picture of them, but there's niches in each bunk with power and lights as well as storage space for books and tablets. There are two drawers under each bunk, made from oak barn wood. The steps are red oak, and the cavities are for some storage baskets the client had and wanted to make use of. There's a barnwood accent wall that the client hung some props to pander to the theme. This was a really fun build. We had to re work the framing of the walls where the roof slopes in. We bumped the wall out three feet so the top bunk would have storage space in the niches. We also framed up the wall where the barn doors are hung. There's no drywall anywhere in the room, it's all toounge and groove or barnwood. Lots of detail in this room, we were on this job for about a month straight. Plus the week it took to frame it up.
I said I'd post these every once in a while, and if people are interested Ill do it more often. This and the Peter Pan room are the only themed ones. All the other jobs are kitchens, some really nice kitchens. But i find them a little boring these days. If you wanna see more just say so and I'll post some up. #finishcarpentry #framing #zombieapocalypse #zombies #themedroom #woodworking #carpentry #carpentryskills
