Anyone visiting Sabarimala shrine for the first time will be fascinated to see some people calling out “dolly, dolly” while carrying poles with a chair suspended on it, on their shoulders. In Sabarimala, this is called the dolly system. While this is likely to give one the impression that this part of the country still follows monarchy, dolly system in Sabarimala is an age-old carriage service for the elderly devotees and those with physical disabilities, who come to visit the shrine.
