Saturday night play time at my church. I’m currently working on fixing my hip recruitment pattern and focusing on developing my slow twitch muscles. Im doing this by dropping the weight down, lifting on a 3-4 beat up/down pattern, and slowing down my lifts in general.
I’ve found that switching gyms has revived my energy about going to the gym and I’ve been consistently getting here 5 times a week. Some may think I’m strange but I’m grateful to spend my Saturday evening doing this. .

The workout video streak continues! Day THIRTEEN! Today was a 45-minute routine called “Fusion Flow” with Ellen. I have to admit, my enthusiasm was lower today. I was less motivated to press “play”, and it took me about 20 minutes to really get myself going for this one. Yet as always, I never regret doing It.

Part of the trouble is my girth— there are some moves that are simply impossible for me to do at this point. It gets frustrating. For example, there’s a move where we keep our leg about 2 inches off the ground, and do small kickbacks (see photo #2). Sounds and looks easy, but with my size and the weight of the leg, I can maybe do one rep. So for now, I modify things, and at bare minimum, at least keep my body MOVING. While I won’t break the streak tomorrow, I will take a bit of a “rest day” and do a very simple video tomorrow, probably the same video I did last Sunday. Going to bed feeling a bit dejected, but at least the streak is intact.
