This evening, as the sun was setting, I found my thoughts in a reflective state, and these are the words I gave birth to:
I changed the moment I remembered that someone who feels they need to impersonate false identities and fabricate fictitious stories to gain "control" and feel secure, isn't my enemy. It was the realization that their behavior was an outward cry for love, respect, security, understanding and freedom, that shifted my perception. And that's when, beloved, my heart understood that when we look beyond the, sometimes lunatically, surface and deep into the soil of someone's pain, choosing to see the root only, our capacity for compassion deepens, and as our compassion deepens we heal ourselves and others.
And compassion, I've learned, is a very powerful thing.
