#Reposting @sam1.jo Well I guess I should eat 🤔😆 The longest I’ve fasted & actually the easiest - I still didn’t feel hungry! I could have gone on longer but I was teaching yoga later so I ate. So many myths about how much you should eat, when to eat & how fasting is bad for you. WRONG! Fasting is good for you for many reasons. Look at your lifestyle, diet, portion sizes, eating times & make some changes! Do some research & obviously consult a Dr if you have ongoing health issues. Food is life & a blessing for us but in this day & age, we eat wrong things, too much & at times where our body doesn’t even need it. Its not entirely our fault - the media wants us to eat more & be unhealthy! But you can take your health into your own hands! It’s all about balance - ain’t nobody gonna stop me having dessert 😍 But what I have, when & how much is the key. Be good to yourself 😉 Trust me, from someone that LOVES food, I’m telling you, it can be done! Keep busy, enjoy the benefits & msg me if you want support! 😊 ✨

Reclined butterfly pose 🦋
A great heart opener and great for anyone that works in an office and has rounded shoulders and is tight through the chest. It soothes the nervous system and calms the mind.

It is also a great hip opener and works at lengthening through the adductors and groin which in relation to Chinese medicine is the kidney and liver meridian that are being stimulated.

In a seated position place a bolster at the base of your sacrum and bring the soles of your feet together. With knees out to the side slowly lie backward onto the bolster to your forearms until you are lying down with palms facing upward creating an opening through the chest.

This pose can be held for 5 - 10 minutes for more of a restorative/yin variation.

To come out push your knees back together and slowly roll onto one side and move bolster to the side and slowly come up to a comfortable seated position.
You may like to do a forward fold with your feet in butterfly as a counter pose.

Rebound in savasana to let the body adjust and to check in with your body and notice and any sensations that may be occurring in your body and mind.

Yin yoga. Here is a little basic sequence for you that I did the other day. Mostly focusing on hips and in the end I ended up in a nice chest opener. I always have pillows near by so i can make it even more cosy. Place them wherever you want to make the positions more accessible. Try to stay in each pose from 2-5 minutes. It can be a good idea to have a timer in the beginning.

“At my 50hr Yin YTT course: It makes no sense teaching strict rigid alignment (in all Yoga styles) from feet upwards...because we all have different shaped bones....

....here we got students to lay down & you can see some students have more torsion (twist) in tibia (shin) bones than others..........so I go to pull the student (in red socks) knees to face upwards = her toes are still pointing outwards = shape of her tibia.

Makes more sense to teach poses from the core outwards....instead look 👀what’s happening in pelvis/hip sockets-head of femur, shape of femur, knees, shape of tibia, ankles...

Usually, when people discover new places to eat, they could go to that place every single day if it resonates a lot with them.
They would try out every dish, explore the different tastes and make connections with the staff.
Because they're so in love with that place, they want the whole world to know how amazing it is.
They would rave about the presentation of the food, the interesting tastes they've never experienced before, the cosy atmosphere and the heart-opening conversations with the staff.
If the menu remains the same, the excitement and the love they had experienced initially would slowly dissipate.
They would start looking out for new places to eat. Or go to places where they've eaten before, just to mix things up.
As a result, they would stop going there.
They would bump into one of the staff and be told that they've been missed and asked what they've been up to.
As an excuse, they'd say they have been busy. Work, family and stuff.
Then one day, out of the blue, they start thinking of a particular dish they used to love so much.
Thinking of how nurtured and warm they had always felt when eating at that place.
They would ring up the place and ask if they're still operating.
They would feel excited and make room in their diary just so that they can have the same experience they used to have in the old days.
Once they've arrived, they would notice how different the place is.
More elegant.
More sophisticated.
Different type of customers.
Dishes with a richer taste.
They will or won't realise that everything evolves and changes on a constant basis.
Sometimes it's the small incremental changes that make the difference.

"My mother was in a care facility for a few years before passing. Sadly I lived in another country and was unable to be there for her, my best friend, everyday. It left me with guilt and anger and with her passing, deep depression. I turned to yoga which helped me to deal with the grief. It helped me to be present with my feelings

Nothing can take away the grief and emotions that come with losing a loved one, especially a surviving parent (I lost my dad when I was 15), but having that daily practice to myself gave me the ability to get through the grief and not sidestep it. Yoga allowed me to process and unravel the feelings I felt or feel each day
.

My journey has led me to yoga, and to teaching yoga, and because of that, I feel at peace and happy that I can share the practice. When I practice yoga through asana I feel more embodied and inwardly connected. When I sit and close my eyes, I can work on my reactivity to chatter in my mind. When I teach, I can share my love and passion for yoga. I think we all know, deep down, what truly makes us happy, and what kind of life work fulfills us. This is my dharma

Most people will tell you that tenacity is a great quality to have, especially if you're trying something challenging that takes a while to complete.

Odds are, the people you admire have shown real tenacity in achieving their goals. Anything really worth doing takes persistence, perseverance, and stubborn determination. Being a great baseball player requires real gifts, no doubt, but even the most gifted player won't make it to the big leagues without the tenacity required to make the long, hard journey up from the minors. Tenacity is the quality displayed by someone who just won't quit — who keeps trying until they reach their goal.

On this special day of New Moon, solar eclipse, mercury retrograde, where all this can support deep inner transformation work, which is not always easy, as sometimes we need to dive deep into dimensions which are painful or uncomfortable... in this special day where a lot of my new teacher training students got challenged by flight cancellations , long delays, unclear navigation on this magical island Ibiza... on this very special day where we could only start with an hour delay due to many ppl being delayed, and still some were missing for 2 more hours- on this very special day just like on every other day there is one remedy to all stress, agitation, problems and issues arising: holding space with love and compassion. Breathing calmly in stillness until all energies can settle, VATA gets pacified, and in the safe soace we all find our solutions and everything sorts itself out. To me holding space with love, nourishment, acceptance - non judgmental space- for myself and whatever is arising.. and to others- whatever is arising- is the essence of yoga. Awareness, peaceful wisdom presence, acceptance, compassion, and space . Freedom . Give freedom to all , hold a free space without expectation nor judgment but clear perception and love. That’s what is so needed in the world right now.. so we release our attachments our grip, and to feel to just be, to discover embrace it all. This Leo New moon is inviting us to redifine what is priority for our Soul. What does our Soul Path look like, and can we commit to that and realign with it. I am super grateful for another wonderful group of eager Ladies, so I can share the art of Love,nourishment and compassion with them through Yin Yoga. We create a new World together. A balanced one. Where we learn to listen. To deeply listen within, at each other. And deeply listen to the Earth and cosmic rythms.
