Just your friendly, Monday-morning reminder that movement doesn't have to happen in a gym. (Although, of course, it can, if you'd like it to!) ⠀
It doesn't require a yoga mat. Or any other equipment.
Not special clothes or shoes. ⠀
It doesn't even need you to find an extra hour in your day to make it happen.
Movement. Is. Life.
You can do it anytime, anywhere, wearing anything. ⠀
In so many ways! You can stretch while you do the laundry, find ankle and hip mobility while you sauté your vegetables, dance while you sweep the kitchen floor, squat while you collect the toys your toddler scattered through every room in your home (Or does that only happen in my home? The toddler toy distribution, that is, not the squatting to put them away!), hang for a moment every time you walk through a doorway, and walk down the hall to ask a question rather than send an email or text. ⠀
The possibilities are endless. And it all counts. In fact, if you can add in little bits of movement all day long, in the midst of the things you already do, that will count more than any hour spent at the gym, no matter how intense. Because our bodies are molded by what we spend most of our time doing, and nothing we do for just one hour of the day can counteract what we do for the other 23. ⠀
So move! All day long. And let me know how it feels when you do. :)
