A new weekly class with Rosalind combining a strong Yin practice with the restorative and meditative aspects of iRest Yoga Nidra.
This class starts with yin yoga using long passive hold in floor-based poses in order to target fascia and release deeply held tension in the body. The class ends with an I-Rest yoga Nidra practice. This is a practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry which helps to calm the nervous system and guide the body and mind into a deep rest.
This class is suitable for students with some yoga experience and an interest in meditation and mindfulness.

MEDITATION FOR A CALM LIFE
I was not a meditator.
I was a doer.
Meditation came to me through injury & pain.
I had to sit in stillness to heal.

I learnt that each brainwaves is activated with different meditation practices & each had a profound effect on my health.
This is for all humans that our brains are retrained in this way.
You can find what you’re looking for in meditation. It’s just knowing how.
At different times our intention & learning needs change. This affects your chosen meditation practice.
I meditate to keep calm in the ever changing craziness of life. I learn visually & kinaesthetically - what about you?

Wednesday pause for thought...we all do our best when we are rested and relaxed 💕.

I know I’m like a broken record here, but deep rest really can change your life.
.
And rest at this time of the year is such a soothing tonic in the midst of all the busyness going on within and around us. .

Winter is calling us to slow down, to follow nature’s lead and turn inwards, but the busyness of life as we approach this festive period means that we are doing exactly the opposite. .m
.

So many people I see in my classes are tired and weary, often carrying on even though they’re exhausted and doing that ‘one more something’ (fill the gap - more exercise, working late, one more load of washing etc etc). We expect ourselves to just keep going and doing, when in reality we simply can’t continue in this way forever. .
We need pause in our day. Rest is part of our natural cycle. When you’re reaching for caffeine or sugar, know that this is your body’s way of trying to tell you to change your energy and not ignore the natural urge to rest.
.
When you introduce a practice such as Yoga Nidra you’re relearning the art of rest. You’re allowing the body and mind to not only rest, but to also replenish and refuel. .

The more you rest, the better you will feel. The better you feel, the easier it is to navigate life’s ups and downs. .

Yoga Nidra is a practice I maintain because:
:
A. It rewires my neural pathways everyday, bringing me more space between my interactions throughout the day. For example, yesterday my Lyft driver missed the airport 🛫 exit... In the past pre YN that would have been a bad moment for that Lyft driver...and me. Instead I sat patiently waiting in traffic knowing all would be okay.
:
B. I can't be a teacher or guide if I'm not in the practice, living it. There is something to be said about meditation guides who are not practicing...🤯

C. This practice is so easy and the benefits are endless, why would I not practice?
