It’s been a little while since I’ve posted anything pilates related, and if I’m completely honest I’ve been feeling a little uninspired.
It’s so easy to get stuck in a bit of a rut when you’re constantly teaching back to back classes, and unable to get to any classes yourself.
I really do believe it’s so incredibly important to inspire and be inspired by each other, and since I’ve pulled back on my pilates teaching load and found more of a balance I’ve noticed a huuuuuge difference in my class content and in my attitude. Most of all, I’m genuinely enjoying it again which is an awesome feeling.
I think often, in this industry especially, we forget to take care of ourselves and listen in to the little voice telling us when we need a bit of a break. As the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Yes, I am guilty 🙈.
DAY 5 of #GroundingWithDrishti should have been any supine twist, but I had to try this prone one 🙄.
.
I had the hardest time figuring out how to enter this pose (and how to take a shot of it 😅) and when I was there I just thought "omg it's SO intense! 😖".
.
The second thought, when I saw the shot on my camera was "oh I could call this the sleeping beauty pose!" 😂
.
Truth is I had too much fun with this asana to not showing you 🙊 and it's actually a pretty good way to isolate the twist move from your middle torso.
.
The most difficult part of this pose is maybe drishti. In twists, Parshva drishti, or side gaze, helps us to continue the movement of the torsion. It is really challenging applying it when we are in an intense and revolved twist like this one, though 😥
.
Speaking about Sleeping Beauty, years ago I use that name to call a behaviour I had, like a syndrome. When I was sad and hurted I used to suffocate my feelings to not react towards a person who was actually treating me in a very bad way. I had my part in this relationship by staying quiet, silent, almost motionless. Sometimes, when all this was just too much, I just tried to fall asleep. The moment I was closing my eyes and I was sleeping, were the only ones in which I could escape.

During practice, before you close your eyes and relax into poses, make sure you are actually focus and present. Drishti can help us so much to speak to our inner selves, to avoid lying to ourselves and be awake ❤️

Talking of balance im so happy my mind is more focused in my personal practice not only with handstands but also with back bending. I can feel my body finding it’s natural posture again. .

While we were in Tel Aviv and Brazil I was practicing yoga as regularly as I haven’t since Nailah’s birth.
It reminded me how good it feels to practice regularly. When I don’t practice regularly and I then have the opportunity to do so, I really need to convince myself the first days to practice and not do something else during that time. After a few days this feeling sets in, which makes me feel so connected to my self and to my body that I naturally want to practice and enjoy while practicing. I always appreciate that because it reminds me how people feel who want to start a practice but have a really hard time starting.

If you are one of those people I would like to encourage you to step on the mat a couple of days in a row, even if you don’t seem to feel like it. Just do it and after a short period of time you will notice how good it really feels. That period if time might be a few days or weeks but it surely will come and is so worth making an effort for.

Being back in Hamburg, keeping up a regular practice is a challenge for me, a challenge I accept happily💪🏼

All of this posture breakdown has made me want to revisit my practice with fresh eyes. I’ve always tried really hard to focus on alignment and not compromise anything to get the fullest expression, but I feel like I have a whole new sense of awareness. Anywho, I was pleased to see that my straight forearm stand (which I never seem to practice anymore, because let’s be real variations are easier 🤷🏽‍♀️) was still pretty okay! .

Interesting very interesting. Reading your own cards may not be for everyone, however I really love doing it. I’m also a lover of clairvoyance. In my time I’ve been to a few and all of them have been spot on. And I am someone who’s very closed off when I enter the room. So I’ve been diving in deep into my own spiritual practice. I’ve been having some in depth conversations with my teacher and of late I’ve been feeling a change within. I can’t pin point it and because I’m in my head a lot and not feeling it in my heart I’ve been sitting & meditating to connect to my higher self. Today I was about to sit & meditate and I felt drawn to pull my cards.
It’s crazy what came up! So spot on.
Harmony: signifies a deep spiritual initiation, partnership, or union taking place or manifesting for the future. This card is letting you know it’s time to make choices. The bonds you form with others is really about ‘you’. They are meant to be mirrors for you, reflecting back what you need to see
Solitude: your soul is calling out & needs to be honored & heard. The time has come to step back & withdraw from outside commotion. This card is a reminder to pause, still the mind, meditate, reflect, reevaluate, and discover the wisdom & answers within the very soul of your being.

Mental Conflict: deals with inability to move forward. May not be an easy decision but you’re already aware of this. Listen to your intuition, have faith in yourself. Peace & harmony (other two cards) will soon be yours.

Just so very interesting. Yes I feel all of this and maybe it’s the change of season, my Vata constitution that feels I need to keep on moving, and maybe because I’ve been doing a fair bit of meditation I’m starting to realize how much I’ve been identifying with ego (the mind)
It’s time to surrender more 🙏
