“The only way to do great work is to love what you do”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Truth. Proven. Ask me how I know?
I’ve turned my passion project into a business, but more importantly I turned my day job into my venture capital/ my teacher/ my income source that sponsors my vacations and shoe addiction... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have a business it’s a given - this makes sense, but let me explain to those of us who have full time jobs ...
You feel like you don’t make the rules. You show up to march to somebody else’s drum, you do what you are told, resentfully. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have, and I still on occasion do on days when I forget that I am in charge, felt that way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You don’t have to be the boss with the title to make the rules. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You have a god-given right to decide how things get to work out for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you want to be a “poor me” where you job sucks and everybody is a pain on your @$$, telling you how to do things? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sure. That’s exactly how it’s gonna work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you think all customers are a-holes, needy and demanding? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sure. That’s the customers you are gonna get. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what if you try a different approach?
What if you decide they your job is not a drag, and your boss is not a douche. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What if you choose to see the challenge in a positive light? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let me tell you what you can expect (btw, this principle applies in any area of your life). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You decide that...
Your work gets to be a challenge that builds your character and helps you be a better human being. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That you only get fun customers, who are nice and appreciative. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That you only get to have good-sales days. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That the work day flies by. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That you enjoy the team you work with and there is no drama. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That your pay is only going up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
... then, do your part and watch it happen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And it will. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ask me how I know ;). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.S. don’t dread the Monday. Be excited for the opportunity. 😎
