โ€œThis is the first backpack of my life. I love it and I will always treasure it" โ€” #Rohingya refugee children said after receiving these backpacks during a recent distribution of UNICEF school supplies in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. For every child, the right to education. ๐Ÿ“ธ: @UNICEF Bangladesh

We met one ๐Ÿ’ก group of second-graders in this UNICEF-supported elementary school at #Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. What do they want to be when they grow up? Doctors, teachers, engineers! Wherever they go in life, they'll take their education with them. We have no doubt they'll make this world a better place to live in! ๐Ÿ“ท : @herwigphoto / @unicef_jordan

We met 5-year-old Aya at this @unicef_jordan-supported elementary school in #Zaatari refugee camp last week. Aya loves to read and wants to be a scientist when she grows up. When sheโ€™s not at school, she loves helping her mom out at home. "I love my blue star,โ€ she says, "I got it from my teacher for being good today!โ€ Way to go Aya! โญ๏ธ

This lovely baby, whose home at the #Zaatari refuge camp we recently visited, certainly has what we wish for #EveryChild: a loving family. Until she and her parents, brothers and sisters can move on to their own home, @unicefjordan will see she also has everything she needs to learn and grow. ๐Ÿ“ท: @herwigphoto

Here are just some of the young friends we met this week when @unicefjordan took us to see how children at the #Zaatari refugee camp are getting #BacktoLearning in #UNICEF-supported classrooms. ๐Ÿ“ท: @herwigphoto

Happiness Mbewe IS happy she can take good care of her 18-month-old baby, Davis Christopher. This game of #volleyball at a youth center in Pibor, #SouthSudan may not seem out of the ordinary. But in this region, where hundreds of children have been used as soldiers throughout years of conflict, a child getting to serve a volleyball is a liberating activity that helps children who've been exposed to unspeakable violence heal. Here at the center, where @unicefssudan and friends are offering English lessons and classes in leatherwork and beading, children are regaining their youth. #EndViolence

Greetings from #Jordan! Have you been following our Instagram Story? We're making new friends and seeing @unicef_jordan-supported programs for #refugee children in action. Stay tuned for more! #zaatari

As womenโ€™s #MeToo stories continue to reverberate across the nation, we honor girls whose stories of abuse might otherwise go unheard. A new UNICEF report says 15 million girls have suffered sexual assault and rape before the age of 19. Marie, who's from the #DRCongo, where 20 years of conflict have turned alarming numbers of girls into child soldiers and victims of sexual violence, is one. Regularly forced into combat against heavily armed soldiers, she was equally at risk off the battle field as a victim of extreme sexual violence. Now freed, she wears a necklace that reminds her to smile. It might seem like a tall order, but living in a family setting with other girls who've suffered the same fate is helping her recover and focus on her own dreams โ€” of going into fashion and opening up her own shop some day. #HerToo #EndViolence #NowYouKnow ๐Ÿ“ท: @unicefrdcongo

Since late August over 320K #Rohingya refugee children have fled violence in #Myanmar for #Bangladesh. A UNICEF temporary school at the Uchiprang #refugee camp, where they can get back to learning, is helping to restore their faith in the world. โ€œThis crisis is stealing their childhoods,โ€ says @unicef Executive Director Anthony Lake. โ€œWe must not let it steal their futures at the same time.โ€ #RohingyaCrisis #ChildrenUnderAttack ๐Ÿ“ท: @unicefbangladesh

As womenโ€™s #MeToo stories continue to reverberate across the nation, we honor girls whose stories of abuse might otherwise go unheard. A new UNICEF report says 15 million girls have suffered sexual assault and rape before the age of 19 โ€” often at the hands of someone they know. Rukaiya, roughly 18, is one. Like many children from the Lake Chad region, Rukaiya was abducted by Boko Haram, and forced to marry a man, who she bore one child before escaping last July and reuniting with her family in northeast #Nigeria. Now pregnant again, Rukaiya resists the motherhood forced upon her. โ€œI donโ€™t think of my daughter,โ€ she says of the toddler she left behind with her father. โ€œI was taken away from my parents too. I want to see the baby if it is alive, but I donโ€™t want to have the baby.โ€ #HerToo #NowYouKnow #EndViolence ๐Ÿ“ท: @unicefnigeria
