Nom Nom Nom! This little one from Nabor House Community is enjoying a nutritious meal provided by our Kids Cafe program. Did you know, in FY '17, 866,861 meals and 266,548 snacks were served to hungry children throughout HFB's Kids Cafe sites?
Tasting delicious treats at the 9th Annual "Taste of the Texans" event where the Houston Food Bank is a recipient of the funds collected. Thanks again for the support @houstontexans@texanscare#texanscares
The parents became the students at Hicks Elementary for our Cooking Matters class last week. It was great to have the @texanscheerleaders stop by to encourage them as they learn new recipes and cooking techniques. #TexansCare@texanscare
With #Thanksgiving less than a month away, we hope that you will remember the children, working families and senior citizens who are at risk of hunger. Together, we can make sure that everyone can celebrate the holidays. #HoustonFoodBank#EndHunger
Thank you, @sophiabush for visiting our facility and shedding some light on all our recovery efforts in Houston. #Repost@sophiabush
My #wcw is the badass, inspiring, and dedicated Kim from @houstonfoodbank, and my sister @nialauryn who was game to spend Sunday volunteering there with me!
Y'all. Real talk. The work being done by Kim and everyone else at the Houston Food Bank will bring you to your knees in humility and gratitude. They are still in crisis management mode. STILL. They are working round the clock shifts, 7 days a week, to take care of Houston in the aftermath of the hurricane. They are providing tens of thousands of hungry kids with meals to get them through the weekends so that they can learn and grow. They are taking care of seniors in the community and making sure they don't go hungry. They are offering food assistance to community members who have jobs, but are still struggling, so that instead of having to get a second job to pay for groceries, those folks can go to night school and elevate themselves up to the next level in life. Y'ALL!! These people are the angels among us. Truly.
Please consider donating to @houstonfoodbank, or getting involved with the local food bank in your community. This is how we grow together. This is how we create unity and show that we will not be divided. This is how we love our neighbors. I am STILL feeling uplifted from our day of learning, and sorting, on Sunday. And seriously, anyone out there with #OCD like me!? THE FOOD BANK IS A DREAM JOB FOR PEOPLE LIKE US!! All those wacky organizing skills have a CALLING!! I'll be back asap! #Community#Neighbors#FoodBank#HoustonFoodBank
Working towards their Cast Iron Chef Pin, Webelos Cub Scout Pact 3242 worked with our Nutrition Education Department to learn how to plan a meal on a budget using grocery store ads. They also learned a recipe to replicate while on an upcoming camping trip!
Several participants in our Nutrition Education's "Cooking Matters" classes are sharing photos of recipes they've prepared using the grocery incentives they receive as part of their weekly class. It's so nice to see parents practicing what they have learned in class!
Learning how to have a green thumb is something our Nutrition Educator Sylvia knows a lot about. Today, she along with students from The HEART Program work on gardening boxes in front of the Food Bank facility. The food and herbs will then be used for future nutrition classes.
After Hurricane Harvey, time was of the essence to get food and supplies out to the Houston community. We would not have been able to work as efficiently as needed if not for our super productive stretch wrap machines donated to us by The Dow Chemical Company. By helping the Food Bank better wrap large pallets, we can work faster and safer, as well as, minimize damage done to product during wrapping and shipping.
To assist those impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, native Houstonian and current NFL free agent, Josh Huff, and Houston Texans starting defensive tackle, DJ Reader, teamed-up with our Teachers Aid program to provide backpacks and school supplies to some of the most displaced students of the Aldine Independent School District. @mattel@verizondigital@texanscare .

Our special guest volunteers know a thing or two about "fighting" hunger! Houston’s own super welterweight world champion Jermell Charlo along with his brother Jermall came to help out at the Food Bank to help build disaster boxes before his @showtimeboxing event next month.
Always a great help to their community, the Lady #Texans were on hand today making disaster boxes in our warehouse for those in need. Just one of their many efforts in showing that #TexansCare. @texanscare
We know the @harlemglobetrotters are full of tricks, but they are also full of heart. Today, we welcomed Globetrotters Flip and Moose to the Food Bank where they created disaster boxes for the Houston community and thanked our many volunteers for donating their time. #volunteer#globetrotters#basketball
Within days of the Houston Food Bank opening it's doors after Hurricane Harvey hit, @ddlovato visited our facility and lent a gracious hand in creating disaster backpack sacks for kids and their families.
Sometimes all you need is a good stretch and a Yoga class to get through the week - especially post-Harvey! @yogaonehouston has a series of "Strengthen Your Core" classes at the Food Bank now through the end of the year for our volunteers! #yoga#namaste#volunteer
