LonelyPlanet contributor, @king_roberto, recently trekked around the Navajo Loop Trail in Bryce Canyon National Park and observed the 'views to miles hiked ratio in Bryce is as good as anywhere'. We agree! #USA#travel
#LonelyPlanet Pathfinders, @atlasandboots, were recently out on the road exploring the stunning #GreatOceanRoad in #Victoria, #Australia. The most iconic sight and enduring image for most visitors to the Great Ocean Road, the Twelve Apostles provide a fitting climax to the journey. Jutting out from the ocean in spectacular fashion, these rocky stacks stand as if they've been abandoned to the ocean by the retreating headland. #LPpathfinders#travel
'#Mauritius is famous for its aquamarine waters, powdery-white beaches and, of course, luxury resorts – and we weren’t going to miss out on a spot of luxury! Our favourite Mauritian sunset was off the northern beach of Trou-aux-Biches. We enjoyed some of the most beautiful views of the Indian Ocean from this fantastic spot. No wonder #LonelyPlanet named Mauritius as one of their #BestinTravel for 2018!' - @atlasandboots -- That's all from Kia for this weekend's #lpInstaTakeover folks! 'Another day and another gorgeous #beach in #Mauritius. This time it’s on the southeastern coast of the island near Blue Bay. The wildlife reserve of Blue Bay Marine Park surrounds Pointe d'Esny and Blue Bay at the more tranquil and less developed end of the island. This means that high-speed watercraft aren't allowed in the area allowing for quiet waters and gorgeous scenes like this.' - @atlasandboots#lpInstaTakeover#LonelyPlanet#travel
'The bizarrely shaped Crystal Rock off the southwestern coast near the Le Morne Brabant peninsula in #Mauritius. We took a boat trip to Ile aux Benitiers (Benitiers Island) during our stay. It's a fifteen minute ride across the reef that surrounds the peninsular at Le Morne. En route you’ll come across some some bizarre little 'blips' in the water such as Crystal Rock making for an amazing photo opportunity.' -- @atlasandboots#lpInstaTakeover#LonelyPlanet#travel
'The stunning and unique rocky crag of Le Morne Brabant Mountain seen from the reef that surrounds the peninsula. We climbed the mountain during our stay in #Mauritius. It took around 3-4 hours and involved some pretty challenging scrambling over some fairly steep rocks. The views from the top were, of course, unparalleled.' - @atlasandboots#lpInstaTakeover#LonelyPlanet#Travel
This weekend's #lpInstaTakeover comes from Kia, one half of @atlasandboots and #LonelyPlanet Trailblazer, who will be sharing some images from a recent trip to #Mauritius. -- 'At 812m (2,664ft), Le Pouce – or The Thumb, so named because of its thumb-shaped peak – is the third highest mountain in Mauritius. Throughout the hike there are striking views of the Moka Range including the country’s second highest peak, Pieter Both, with its uniquely shaped rock formation at the summit which resembles a human head.' - @atlasandboots -- Keep an eye on our feed this weekend for more of Kia's snaps! #travel
This week's #lpfanphoto comes from @jen__mcconnell who took this suitably spring-like shot in Lisse, a town in the western Netherlands -- Every week we regram a #lpfanphoto. Tag yours for a potential feature!

#LonelyPlanet's @chrismzeiher is currently on the road exploring #Japan. He snapped this shot of the famous symbol of Miyajima, the Floating Torii (shrine gate). Standing out in the bay and serving as the watery entrance to World Heritage shrine Itsukushima-jinja, this vermilion torii stands at 16m-tall. There has been a torii at this site since 1168, with the current gate dating from the late 1800s. #travel
