One of the most powerful, difficult, and empowering books I’ve ever read. I want to thank @rosemcgowan for her strength and bravery in telling her truths. The work that she has done, and continues to do, is giving strength to others and saving lives. Unfortunately, I found her stories all too relatable, and I have many friends with similar stores too. This should not be. Society: Do better. I think this book is incredibly important for everyone, male or female, to read. Trigger warning: there are graphic descriptions of assaults she endured, which are incredibly difficult to get through as a reader. Even so, this book is full of so many VALID thoughts and points. So many things brought to light. It is honest and brutal and unapologetic, which again, is important. Her blunt unapologetic authenticity makes a lot of people uncomfortable, and we have to ask ourselves why that is. We’ve been conditioned to be polite at all times, and to quietly endure horrific atrocities and keep it to ourselves in order to not upset anyone else or make anyone else uncomfortable with our truths. That needs to stop. We need to get used to hearing each other’s truths, even if they make us uncomfortable, instead of staying quiet and staying complacent, and allowing these horrible things to go unaddressed. It’s important for the victims to be able to heal. It is important for the people who commit these terrible acts to be called out and shown for what they are. It is important for society to stop ALLOWING these terrible things to happen, to be the norm. I’m a proud member of Rose Army. This incredible woman, along with every victim around the world throughout history, have my support. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart, but that’s exactly why I think the faint of heart need to read it. Walk a mile in this woman’s shoes, because she represents so many more women than just herself. I really hope that I can someday meet her, shake her hand, and look her in the eye as I thank her in person. #rosearmy#equality#justice#timesup#metoo#book#books#feminist#brave#strength
The OGs of the OG crew lol. Met this guy the morning before our interview and ran through the rain together trying to figure out where to go while still looking cute and interview ready lol. And we proceeded to crush it and both got picked 🥰 My first Delta friend. Always good to see you.
