Slowly getting back into my backbends... and this felt amazing. My physical therapist checked to see my healing and was very happy with how much strength I’ve gained over the past couple of months and I think it’s mainly from eating well and practicing Mysore-style Ashtanga for almost a month. I’ve still got a lot of strengthening and learning to do, this is only the beginning and I’m so grateful. ❤️ #healing#livingroomyogasessions#yoga#nycautumn Photo by @azkosber Wearing my favorite new color @aloyoga 💛🍁
Your yoga practice will teach you to dig a little deeper as it will shed light on things that maybe you weren’t aware of before. For example, that your balance in warrior three is more stable on your left side, and that you can twist a little further on your right side. It isn’t so much about what it is revealing to you, but it’s about why. Once you start becoming more aware of these little physical asymmetries and habits that tend to form over the years, you can start to consciously balance things out. It could teach you that your whole body is beautifully connected and meant to function in harmony, and that restoring that balance is one of the most valuable aspects of this practice. #yoga#livingroomyogasessions Dancer variation in Soho wearing the coziest new Foxy Sherpa in pale mauve - an exclusive piece that released today! 💗 @aloyoga thank you for the most BEAUTIFUL Holiday collection Photo by my love @azkosber
As you read this, shift your awareness into your breath, notice the quality of it. See if you can notice the pause between every exhale and inhale, the pause between every inhale and exhale. The sweet quality of surrender within the exhales, and the expansiveness the inhales bring to your body. Observe your jaw, the space between your eyebrows, and let everything soften. Keeping a soft awareness of your breath as you go about your day now ❤️ #yoga #livingroomyogasessions Photo by @azkosber Wearing @aloyoga
Thought I’d introduce myself to those of you new on here! My name is Amina, I’m Egyptian. I live in New York, it’s my favorite city in the world!! I studied fashion design here and I used to work as a designer before I switched into becoming a full-time yoga teacher. I found yoga in November 2014, and after my first yoga class I loved everything about the practice and decided to do my teacher training 1.5 years after that. I never in a million years thought I would teach yoga. I always hated sports as a child and never did dancing or gymnastics. Right after my teacher training, I started teaching right away despite being sooo nervous. I had a baby 4 months ago, and I fall more in love with him everyday. I have two sisters, @evaspole (2 years apart) and @hannahtaha (13 years apart) and I am the oldest. My sisters are the coolest! I met my husband in NYC in front of a train station. Haha more on that maybe soon... We’ve been together for 6 years this January. He is the most talented person I’ve ever met, there is nothing this man cannot do! Other non-yoga facts: I have watched The Office (US) on repeat for a year now 😄 I speak English, Arabic and a good amount of French. I lived in Paris, London, New Jersey, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Cairo and New York. My second favorite city that I’ve been to so far is Sevilla in Spain. My favorite food is my grandma’s molokheya. Okay now your turn! Tell me some things about you, I would love to know more ❤️ #livingroomyogasessions#yoga Photo by @azkosber Thank you @aloyoga for the beautiful yoga wear, always!
Spent the day yesterday with this beautiful person. @lamise is one of those people you meet and instantly fall in love with. I first met her a year ago and I instantly felt as though I’ve known her for ages! Her stunning photos and letters do not do her justice - when you meet her in person she’s the embodiment of everything she beautifully shares. Dear Lamise, please move to NYC now? ❤️ Photo by @sfreneenyc Wearing @aloyoga
Off to teach my beginners class... One of my favorite classes to teach! 💛 Teaching is such a blessing that I am so grateful for, I think making time to have my own daily practice while teaching is so valuable - because both enrich each other. Please let me know if you have any YTT questions and I’d be happy to share my experience with you 😊 Thank you @azkosber for this photo! Wearing @aloyoga
For the past three days, I’ve been fully on my own with Malik. Ever since he’s been born, I’ve always had some sort of help around me - whether it’s my mom, my husband, sisters, etc. Having that kind of support around me helped ease the transition into motherhood TREMENDOUSLY. I don’t think without them it would’ve been the same. My husband had a three day conference last Friday, and I woke up feeling a little nervous. It’s almost silly to admit. Nervous to spend three days with this little one on my own. I was nervous about being able to get ready, or do dishes, or do anything without having an extra set of hands to help me. I took a deep breath, realized how silly it was, and went on with the day. By the end of it, we were in bed, both of us, giggling uncontrollably. I realized: wow! He’s having a lot of fun. He doesn’t need anything else. Or anyone else. He’s just happy, playing and laughing in bed with me. The day flew by and I felt a little sad when it was his bedtime. Those three days alone with him taught me so much. It’s a beautiful thing to realize that your relationship with your son is constantly evolving, growing, getting deeper - just as any friendship or connection can. He is his own person, and I am getting to know him and love him everyday. And for that, I feel so lucky, because with all the things that I am and aspire to be - being his mama is my favorite part of all. #livingroomyogasessions#motherhood #uttanasana Wearing @aloyoga always Photo by my man @azkosber
One of my favorite postures to practice at the moment as I slowly get back into my backbends. It will always be one of my favorites - it is a beautiful intertwining of active strength and a sense of surrender/letting go. What is your favorite pose to practice at the moment? And why? 💛 #ustrasana#camelpose#yoga #livingroomyogasessions Photo by my love Wearing the softest leggings ever - thank you @aloyoga I can’t get enough of this beautiful holiday collection 💗
