Aerial LiDAR (light detection and ranging) surveys were used on Guatemala’s Maya Biosphere Reserve uncovering more than 60,000 previously unknown structures. Researchers believe this region supported an advanced civilization on par with Ancient Greece or China, rather than isolated cities. #aia#anthropology#archeology#mayan#gooutside
I recently overheard someone saying this quote and I feel like a lot of people, including myself, can relate to it. Sure, practice makes perfect, but the more you perfect it the more permanent it becomes. I wanted to share this thought with you all in hopes that you’ll think about this quote next time something relevant is happening around you. I just re-took a math class that I failed the first time. Now, the material hasn’t changed, but I practiced it so often that it finally became permanent in my head and I passed the class with flying colors. Now I’m more confident in math than I ever was #aia#anthropologistsinaction#quoteoftheday#relatable

The night of December 5th, is known in many alpine countries as Krampusnacht (krampus night). Krampus is the assistant of St. Nicholas. During the Christmas season, St. Nicholas rewards children who have behaved well, and the Krampus punishes children who have behaved badly. #aia#culturalanthropology
