Two new tree sits have been erected in the path of the Mountain Valley Pipeline in Virginia! . DONATE: bit.ly/supportmvpresistance . Early this morning, pipeline fighters erected two new aerial blockades in Montgomery County, VA. These tree sits are protecting trees on the pipeline easement that have not yet been cleared, and are located within 5 miles of a site where the pipeline is proposed to cross the Roanoke River. . “We have put our trust in a system that has consistently failed to protect people,” stated one of the sitters. . On August 29th, FERC reversed a temporary Stop Work Order and allowed construction to continue on all non-federal lands. The agency claims that this is the only way to minimize environmental damage. Today’s action shows that pipeline fighters are not buying FERC’s machinations and are not backing down! . #nomvp#noacp#nopipelines#stopthemvp#resist#risetogether#stillhere#belikelauren#belikenettle
👏👏👏 follow @leauestlaviecamp for updates on this rad fight to stop the tail end of the Dakota Access Pipeline! . #Repost@leauestlaviecamp with @get_repost ・・・ BREAKING - New aerial blockade launched in the path of the pipeline! . A water protector is sitting in a sky pod — a unique type of tree sit — to stop construction of Energy Transfer Partners’ Bayou Bridge pipeline in the Atchafalaya Basin. . Located just off the easement near the three other ongoing tree-sits, the sky pod is tied to several trees in the path of the pipeline that are slated for destruction. Water protectors say if the trees are cut the pod will fall and the sitter’s life will be in danger. . “This is a complex structure that is off of the easement, but its anchor lines are on the easement. ETP cannot continue cutting twithout endangering the life of the person in the sky pod,” said one water protector, who did not want to be identified. . “ETP must stop construction in order to protect our friend in the sky pod and to save the trees in the Atchafalaya Basin and make sure that St.James gets an evacuation route.” . Water protectors in canoes and in a sky pod have worked together to stop construction of the Bayou Bridge pipeline work for more than 2 hours this morning. Their goal is to force officials to create an evacuation route for the St. James community and to prevent Energy Transfer Partners from destroying more trees in the Atchafalaya Basin. . The Bayou Bridge pipeline is the southern leg of the Dakota Access pipeline and would bring oil from North Dakota to export terminals in Louisiana. . Blockade halts Mountain Valley Pipeline construction at worksite in Monroe County, WV. . Donate: bit.ly/supportmvpresistance . A WV grandmother halted construction of the MVP by blockading herself in a 1971 Ford Pinto elevated off the ground at a pipeline worksite. The blockade is being carried out by 64-year-old local resident, author, retired schoolteacher, and grandmother Becky Crabtree on the section of pipeline easement that is ravaging the land her family lives on in Monroe County. . “I have talked to elected officials, signed petitions, written letters, submitted reports, and gone to court. I have exhausted the ‘usual’ methods of fighting injustice and have gotten no relief,” stayed Becky. “Officials have failed us in this fight, we need to fight for ourselves and each other.” . #noMVP#noACP#nopipelines#resist#risetogether#appalachiantrail#appalachiantrail2018#thruhike#optoutside
