EID AT HOME
I can't wait to get stuck into the mamoul & baklava.
The first day of Eid is usually reserved for family, but as an ex-pat it's the hardest day of the year. This year I decided to do something different especially after my older girls fasted throughout Ramadan. Day 2 was all about them and their friends & our friends who also miss the luxury of having family around at Eid. I think this will become a family tradition, something the girls can look forward to after Ramadan. Eid Mubarak.
Special thanks to the Eid partyware from @partycameldubai - thank God for the beautiful & colourful pieces. You need to take it worldwide. Thank you to my gorgeous friend @fairytalesdxb & her team for entertaining the kiddoz. And the crafts courtesy of @thehappyboxofficial who kept the girls busy throughout Ramadan.

When you set yourself a goal make sure you write it down. Set small goals and work towards that goal.
10 Years ago I did just that. I promised myself that if I spent a decade in the Middle East, I would write the book. Today I signed a 3-year contract with Beirut book publisher @tpbooksleb. Over the next few posts I'll share exactly how I got to this point. This platform has been part of the journey & your feedback on my posts will help me shape my chapters.
To all my followers who have supported me, thank you! To my critics, I guess I'm the one smiling & celebrating tonight.
SELF BELIEF "I know who I am, I know what I believe, and that's all I need to know." - Will Smith
Believe in you
Believe in your ability
Believe in your strength
What everyone else thinks doesn't really matter.
If they have an issue with you that's their problem not yours. As long as what you're doing isn't hurting people, keep doing it.
It takes a long time to get to a point where you no longer really care what people have to say about you or how people perceive you. It comes with age, success and hard work. I wake up everyday telling myself that what others think of me doesn't matter because only God knows my intentions and only God can judge me.
A dream is just a dream if you don't have a goal.
Have an awesome day!
There is nothing more rewarding in life than to just give selflessly. It's something I want my daughters to grow up understanding and appreciating. Appreciate what you have and if you have more than others look to those who have less than you and GIVE. Don't ask why others have more than you, ask why some have less than you. Then say, alhumdillah (Thank God). I've always made contributions to charity, I give, but I never share in my platform just because it's something between me and God. Today I wanted to show my girls and make them appreciate the wonderful feeling you get after distributing food to those less fortunate. They stood out in the heat (whilst fasting) handing out food. Not one complaint. They were sad when it ended. Even more upset when we ran out of food and they could see the queue was still long. They even asked if they could come back and do it again. As parents it's our job to instil these charitable acts in our kids. Today we were IN Al Thanya Street, outside the villa of the Al Zarooni family, who have been distributing food packages to those less fortunate for over 15 years. I met their son Faisal, who just said, "I just give. Their religion doesn't matter." He doesn't advertise what he does nor does he promote it. Seeing my girls being charitable was the greatest feeling as a parent.
Thanks @partycameldubai for taking us along for the ride. SWIPE to see the girls in action.
GIFT A SMILE "At the end of the day, it's not about what you have or even what you've accomplished. It's about what you've done with those accomplishments. It's about who you've lifted up, who you've made better. It's about what you've given back." - Denzel Washington
There are hundreds of orphans living in #Dubai who need our help. When they wake up on the first day of Eid they won't have their families beside them.
Together with @meraasdubai & @beitalkhair
You can make a difference by simply gifting a smile. I'm honoured to have been asked to be part of this campaign this #Ramadan. You can donate clothes, toys & books, which will all be delivered to these kids. Record a message at the booth, words of encouragement, to remind these children that they haven't been forgotten this Eid.
All you need to do is visit any @meraasdubai
Destination across #dubai, @thebeachdubai@alseefdubai@citywalkdubai@boxparkdubai and look for the #GIFTASMILE activations and leave your gifts.
Ramadan is truly a test for everyone but even more so when your a kid who is fasting and surrounded by all the yummy treats you can't eat during daylight hours. Nothing seems to phase my girls. After school they decided to accept an invite from @1magicphil to launch of his cool kid's menu @reformdubai. Popcorn, biscuits, candy & drinks were all on offer but neither of the girls cared. When it was time to test the bites from the menu, they simply sat back and looked on. Just because we're fasting we don't expect life and the world to suddenly stop for us. It's business a usually without the food and water. It takes a lot of strength and will power to do what they did today and what they have been doing everyday at school during Ramadan. Very proud, girls. May Allah accept your fast. #Ramadan
