Roughly 4 million acres of land and several million square miles of ocean. That's how much territory Obama protected during his presidency. At the center of his efforts is a Roosevelt-era law called the Antiquities Act which allows presidents to designate "objects of historic or scientific interest" as National Monuments.

In September, the Trump administration recommended changes for 10 of these monuments. These alterations include either shrinking their size or opening them up to "traditional uses" like mining, timber farming, drilling, and commercial fishing.

Your epitaph — the text written on a headstone — is the last thing you can say to the world. Sometimes it's a matter of getting your own account of your life out there. Richard Nixon, for instance, disgraced by Watergate, wanted to be remembered as a peacemaker. Swipe through to see a few of the most memorable on this Friday the 13th.

The Las Vegas massacre was officially the worst mass shooting in modern US history.

The deadliest mass shooting in the world took place during the Paris attacks in November 2015, when gunmen killed a total of 128 people by gunfire in various locations across the city. And in July 2011, neo-Nazi Anders Behring Breivik killed 67 people after opening fire at a summer camp in Utoya, Norway.

For some, the changing leaves are indicative of fall, while for others it's that alluring scent of the wildly popular pumpkin spice latte — a seasonal coffee drink, known as a PSL, that mysteriously gives you a burst of delicious pumpkin pie flavor without the hassle of baking or dishwashing.

Surprisingly, those spices that go into a homemade pumpkin pie constitute less than 11% of the pumpkin pie syrup, which gives your fall beverage its incredible flavor. It has an even smaller amount of actual pumpkin.

Sean "Diddy" Combs remains the richest artist in the world of hip-hop, according to Forbes' 2017 ranking of rap artists by their total fortune.

On the strength of his lucrative Cîroc Vodka partnership and other ventures, Diddy's $820 million approximate net worth leads Tidal mogul Jay-Z by $10 million and Beats Electronics founder Dr. Dre by $80 million. As Forbes notes, Jay-Z's fortune grew 30% since last year, following a $200 million investment in Tidal from Sprint earlier this year. The streaming service, which Jay-Z purchased for $56 million in 2015, is now valued at $600 million.

Compared to your daily cup of coffee, getting the new iPhone X might seem like a big investment. In the US, however, the average smartphone owner keeps their phone for about 690 days before upgrading. That makes the cost of the iPhone 8 a little more than $1 a day.
Considering the typical cellphone user touches his or her phone 2,617 a day, the value you get for your phone almost certainly exceeds that of your cup of coffee. Puts that daily cup in perspective, doesn’t it?

Not all carbs are created equal. A growing body of evidence suggests that whole grains are a key component of a healthy diet. As opposed to their refined cousins, whole grains are an excellent source of fiber (which is key for healthy digestion), protein (which helps fill you up and power your muscles), and several key vitamins and minerals.

College rankings are ubiquitous as the school year starts. U.S. News & World Report, Niche, and Times Higher Education all released rankings in September. Critics call college rankings 'a joke,' yet the rankings are still highly cited, and do offer important data about aspects of a particular college, if readers are able to decipher them.
