Here's a glimpse of the painting I ended the day with in Glendalough.
The views were so vast & beautiful, yet I didn't want to try & capture the whole thing.
One lone tree captured my heart. It demanded my attention by it's sheer resilence, it's ability to stand strong on the horizon surrounded by remains of felled trees.
What intrigued me was how it had escaped being cut? It wasn't exactly big & strong looking, yet it was.

Out of the thousand trees around Glendalough lake, it was the one that stood out to me as being the most special one.
I couldn't help but draw & paint it.

Everyone around me was painting the full landscape but that held no appeal to me in comparison to this brave warrior tree.

That's my reflection & connection for the day.

I'll hop off my wee soap box now 😊

Love the freedom of ink & being outdoors.... I plan to paint a lot more outdoors now.... 4 ink paintings and a canvas painting heading home with me in the car. Wicklow is so beautiful, such a buzz in Glendalough

Nuala Early's solo exhibition is officially open in the Drogheda Arts Center.
Nuala's beautiful stone sculptures call to be touched... so smooth & sensuous.
You can guess for yourself what we're caught laughing at.. 😉

Great to see Martha Quinn win an award last night for her limestone sculpture 'Fern' , along with @alva_gallagher for her piece 'Breath' at the Botanical Gardens did 't get to see everything before the downpour.... spoke too soon about the sunshine!! Photos of 'Fern' by Alva Gallagher, 'Bindu Vessel' by Grainne Watts, 'Walled Garden' series by Patricia Rafferty.
Sorry I can't find the name of the artist for the beautiful textile piece in the glasshouse

How luscious is this beautiful bronze finish.
It's not mine us all I can say... a trip to the foundry is like a visit to a secret world of treasures yet to be seen

Flashback to this time last year when I created these pieces for the entrance to Drogheda Hospital.
This commission was very special to me as my mam had passed away in Drogheda hospital in 2004 and we marked out the ground on her 13th anniversary, wasn't intentional but it felt very special.
I could feel her energy and presence throughout this project. Everything happened with ease & flowed so well.
I included this daft picture of myself that the photographer took as he asked me to point at the screens. I felt so daft, I couldn't stop laughing... but the photo captures how happy and honoured I felt to be asked to do this art commission.

Thanks to Daire O Connell for asking me to do this work and special thanks to Michael Ward and Vincent for your support & excellent craftsmanship.

Installation day at Dublin Botanical gardens for the Sculpture in Context exhibition.
Great buzz in the air as all the artist put the finishing touches on their pieces.
I'll post photos of the other artists work after the opening later in the week.
