This week is mental health awareness week. You may have noticed I've not posted much - I've been taking a break to take care of mine. The last few weeks have been a bit tough. I didn't realise it when I was in the worst of it that my anxiety was up which fuelled unhelpful habits to soothe which in turn made me feel worse and than as some of you know all to well that downward spiral. It was like a black cloud hanging over my head stopping me from seeing clearly. Obvious and easy solutions were masked and everything felt like an uphill battle.

Now I'm over the worst it's like clarity has some back to me and I could see the episode for what it was.
These are some things I've done.

1. Faith (spiritual support) I've prayed, listened to encouraging messages and just sat in church and cried. Letting it all out
2. I've gotten around others, companionship or to share what's going on. Funnily enough I kept bumping into people or being invited to things which helped from isolating be myself.
3. Take a break, I took a break from some areas of my business and other things in life.
4. Be honest and vunerable. I've let others know that I wasn't feeling great.
5. Looked at the bigger picture or the long term vision. It was so easy to focus on all the issues happening presently but I had to look far into the future to find something to keep me moving forward. I used my Goal planner to do the "letter from my future self" activity and it really made it real to me the consequences both positive and negative of taking action or staying stuck.
6. Started walking. It wasn't intentional but one day I bumped into @nourishbay and we walked from Tottenham court road to Victoria St. Then I wanted to keep it up so I've been doing a walk at lunch and a little one after dinner with the family.
7. Gratitude - I do find this hard at times but I allowed @holyyogalondon to invite me to gratitude accountability and we've been sharing our #3thingsimgratefulfor list most days
8. Self care - I've done a bit of reading, bubble bath, did my hair and bought some new clothes (pre-planned)

Do it scared!

I used to think that all those amazing people doing amazing things must have been super human. I thought everything comes easy for them. They must be smart, they must be confident, they must be talented, they never face fear or doubt. But I don't think that's true anymore. What I do think is true is that they have a strong reason why, they have S.M.A.R.T goals, they have habits & routines that support their purpose and passion and lastly they do experience fear or doubt but they do it scared, they do it anyway.

The more I do the above the more progress I make. I'm pretty much as scared and doubting as I was but I've decided to still take that step, to try, to be consistent and to do 1 thing a day that brings me closer to my goals. I hope you do too!

I'm super excited to hear that @kewgardens Temperate house has had a renovation! Tropical plants are one of my favourite things across stationery, design and homewares. I'm looking forward to going to check it out. I was very inspired last time I went. I love this photo and thinking about putting it up on the Etsy store as a downloadable print or perhaps on a notebook? What do you think?

#shoutieselfie This week is #maternalmentalhealth week. A lot of of mum's suffer alone and in in silence with PND or mental health matters. I was part of the #hiddenhalf Suffering with PND my second pregnancy, but in hindsight also my first which carried on until my second was about 2 years old. I eventually got support when my youngest was nearly 2. Depression hit me hard in my second pregnancy, I suffered Pelvic girdle pain again, lost my grandmother and Aunt. Then when my second son was born my father was diagnosed with cancer, my Arthritic (undiagnosed) pains came back in full force and my little one suffered with Colic, reflux and tongue tie. Breastfeeding is really important so I persevered through it and eventually at 4 months old he started to feed well. Both my lads never slept well and the little rascal still woke frequently even just 6 months ago at the age of 4.5! So it's not been an easy ride. But there is hope! You'll get through it, and things get easier! Don't leave it as long as I did to get help and support. Visit your Gp and let the Health visitor know. There are 'mums helps' available in some boroughs who just come and visit and talk with you, or meet you out. Don't isolate yourself, get out to some playgroups, clubs or see friends. Try get into a routine where you get as much rest as possible, eat well and take 'me time' daily even if it's just 10 minutes. All who wander are not lost! Do you love to explore? We drove to Paris over Easter and the boys got to see the #eiffeltower which they were excited about. That was on my 7 year olds #lifelist , it's the same as a #bucketlist but more positive sounding! Hehe why wait until you're dying to start living? This was the #sacrecouer a beautiful white church on a pretty hill. We then went for lunch at a rustic bakery cafe #coquelicotmontmartre
We plan to do more exploring locally and got a pass for @nationaltrust
