“Be careful of who you feed your culture to, because once they’re full, they rarely stop eating.” #okbars 🏹🎯👏🏾👏🏾 #Repost@vanlathan with @get_repost ・・・ Look, i realize thanksgiving is about family. But I’d wouldn’t be me If I didn’t say it. Grateful for all of you.
My Gran always says “don’t put me on the computer” 😩 and I have always listened but today I had to break the rule. I often wonder where I would be without my grandmother. When my parents divorced she took in my mother & her two kids. I lived with her during the most formative years of my life. The devastating heartbreak I felt due to the departure of my father was soothed by her love. She taught me how to cook, forgive, trust in God, how to weather storms, and she did it all with a quiet grace. She picked us up from school, took us to the doctor, made us go to every church service and activity lol. She may be the funniest person I know, and it’s all unintentional. From telling us to, “stop all that snigglin’ and grinnin’” to yelling at my brother to, “stop all that bumpity bumpity” with his basketball 🤣🤣🤣 even today when my son told her happy birthday & she replied, “and happy birthday to you too!” Then we shared a great laugh. I treasure these moments, I’m so grateful for her life, love, and laughter. For being a soft place to land when our worlds flipped upside down. For listening to my pain, anger, and jokes and replying in the way only she can. I couldn’t dream of a better grandmother. Happy birthday Gran! #throwback somewhere between the 1950s or 60s.
