Nowadays, chemical stress is one of the most prevalent ways stress is introduced to us. Unfortunately, babies today cannot escape toxin exposure, even in the womb. There is not one day in the modern humans' life that we are not exposed to a range of man-made chemical toxicants.
.
"Of the 287 chemicals found in umbilical cord blood [out of the upwards of 400 that were even tested for, it's very likely that numerous others were present that weren't detected merely bc they weren't tested for] 180 are KNOWN to cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests." -EWG
.
Our exposure to toxins doesn't end in the womb- it's just the beginning. From there, we are bombarded by a slew of chemicals on a daily basis coming from things like, candles, perfumes, and flame retardants sprayed on children's pajamas (a federal law), furniture, and even IN popular sodas like Mountain Dew. Not to mention, most food in conventional grocery stores isn't even food, but rather a food-like product.

All of these toxicants we are exposed to can have an effect on our epigenome (esp. with repeated daily exposures), meaning they affect how our genes show up and which ones are up-regulated or "turned on"
.
My intent is not to scare you with this information but rather to empower you so you can become knowledgeable and take action to reduce exposure rates for your family.

3 MAIN STRESSORS TO THE BODY 🏃🍻😬

When most people think of stress, the first thing to come to mind is usually stress as an emotion. But in reality, numerous things can cause stress to the body that usually fall into 1 of 3 categories: physical, chemical, or emotional stress.
.
Physical stress is pretty simple to understand. It can range from anything from a traumatic car accident, having goats jump on you for fun, to even just working out.
.
It's important to note that a certain amount of physical stress is actually g o o d. Imagine sitting at home on the couch all day, everyday for months or years on end. That puts little to no stress on the body, but is in no way healthy ..
.
As with everything, balance is key. Just as not working out can be detrimental, over-working your body can be just as bad and lead to injuries.
.
You're probably wondering what's the perfect amount of physical stress then? And unfortunately, there isn't one answer. It comes down to listening to your body, as it gives us signs and clues all the time, we just need to be tuned in and willing to listen. It's also important to note that during different stages of your life or even during different times of the month, what your body needs may change. Be sure to honor that and not get too stuck on a certain routine that might actually not be serving you in that moment.

Have you ever gotten to the end of a meal and wondered where all the food went?! I know I've definitely been there before.. But it's important to prioritize remaining mindful while eating and remember to chew thoroughly.
.
Not only will you end up eating less than if you mindlessly devoured your meal, but chewing is the only mechanical part of the digestion process. This means food is broken down the rest of the way through mostly chemical interactions alone and is why its super important to prioritize chewing food til it reaches a smooth consistency so our bodies can more easily and properly break down our food. This will enable us to absorb more nutrients as well 🙏
.
I find it sort of funny that we spend billions of dollars annually on healthcare and nutrition research just to search for answers on how to get well, yet most of don't even chew our food properly (let alone breathe the right way). We are spending all this time and energy searching for answers that are right in front of us if we just took a step back and stopped trying to make things so complicated 🙌
.
Nature has provided us everything we need to thrive we just need to remain in tune with her an her cycles (and, you know, chew our food a bit more) ❤️

🍫 Chocolate Summer smoothie comin’ in hot! 🍌🔥

I wanted a yummy afternoon snack that would not only give me the energy to get work done through the evening, but keep me satisfied til dinner time and I know this smoothie will do just the trick!! 🤙🏼

🔸 2 bananas
🔸 a handful of spinach
🔸 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
🔸 2 tablespoons cacao powder
🔸 2 tablespoons nut butter
🔸 1-2 tablespoons coconut sugar
🔸 1 cup filtered water
🔸 1 tablespoon Maca powder (optional)

I know some of the ingredients needed may seem far out or random, but over time you will begin to build your kitchen up with healthy ingredients and they won’t seem so ‘specialty’ anymore.

I recommend to do this slowly over time when first transitioning by trying new recipes each week where you will need new ingredients. Within a month or so you will have a whole new kitchen pantry full of whole food recipe staples 🙌🏼 just trust the process and give it time.

Often, we forget just how connected we are with nature. That that our cells get Vitamin D from the Sun (which is now being called a hormone cause of its multiple uses all throughout the body), that it has been proven by multiple studies that the sounds of nature relieve anxiety, and that we were meant to co-exist within it.

We tend to forget that we need Earth and it’s elements to survive. The trees give us oxygen, the soil gives us arable land to grow nutritious food, and the sun supplies us with cellular energy. We must remember that we are not detached from her - and in fact, are of the same form. Made of the same elements spewed from the stars. Earth. Air. Water. Fire. Ether. We are all One. Everything is connected - and we mustn’t forget it🙏🏼

I’ve been realizing more and more that what you focus on, you get more of.

I’m challenging myself to notice and be grateful for all the small things. Like when someone holds the door open for you. Smiles when you walk by. Or runs after you when you’ve left something behind. Maybe you’ve even pulled up to your favorite coffee shop and the person before you already payed.
.
Whatever it is, there’s always acts of kindness and things to be grateful for happening all around us.
.
Sure, you could focus on the dishes your spouse didn’t put away, the car that cut you off, or anything else that drags you down. But why? Especially when there’s miracles happening everywhere 🔮

Like attracts like & whatever vibration you’re in, you’ll get more of.

Spaghetti Squash boat for one ☝🏼

Tankie likes to think the one person is him 😏 and he’s not entirely wrong cause I’m sure he’ll get at least one bite by the time I’m done eating 🤫

All I did was cut the spaghetti squash in half, drizzle with avocado oil, bake @ 350F for 30 min and add organic tomato sauce (ingredients: organic tomatoes, onions, carrots EVOO, fresh basil, sea salt). Talk about easy peasy annnddd highly nutritious! 👌🏼
