King Lipstick is one of the very first lions I ever photographed when I started photographing wildlife. He was a majestic lion with one of the most powerful roars I have ever heard. In this image I took last month, he had just chased off two young adult males and about 20 hyenas from this kill, all WHILE limping! He had been suffering from a leg injury for a while and as you can see from his broken teeth, age was catching up.
Rest In Peace Great Warrior. You lived a great life in the wild, born free and died free, as lions should. #ClementWild #KING

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY; Successful mothers are not the ones that have never struggled. They are the ones that never give up despite the struggles. This is an image of Imani bracing extreme weather with her young ones. It was a few days before she lost one of the cubs to this weather. #MothersDay #ClementWild

POWER • CONTROL • SEDUCTION
One of the least told stories about Big Cat behavior is how much influence female lions have in the pride. In this image I was able to capture the first moments of this lioness luring this pride male away. What this image doesn't show you is that she had been mating with his brother for many days. As much as that would seem as odd behavior, it's a carefully calculated move to secure the future of the cubs. By mating with both pride males, they will both think the cubs are theirs and therefore will not kill them. #ClementWild

Imani watches a pride of lions that had tried to kill her cubs just a few minutes before I took this photo on a very rainy April afternoon in Maasai Mara. #ClementWild #earthofficial

KUNGFU FIGHTING,

As much as this is cute child play, Lion cubs start gathering skills at a very young age. Every move you see them do when playing is a tactic that will eventually help them survive the tough African jungle. The life of lion cubs is extremely difficult and a large percentage never get to adulthood leave alone be Kings with their own territories. That said, these top predators face danger of extinction if we don't get our act together. We humans forget that every single species has a part to play in maintaining balance to our Planet. It's my hope and prayer that my images change your mind about the advantages and beauty of keeping these species alive. Happy #EarthDay #EarthDay2018 #ClementWild

After climbing one hill, you will always find there are more to climb. But trust me, the view is always better at the top. Have a productive week! #ClementWild

They say, you are not rich until you have something money can't buy. Loyalty is among those things; The allegiance between lion brothers is unrivalled. They defend each other in battle even when the odds are against them, even if it means death! That is the code they live by, Loyalty over everything.

Today ended with heavy cloud cover over Maasai Mara. When I was going back to camp, I saw a small opening in the heavy clouds that revealed the fire behind the dark clouds. I managed to sneak in a few images with some waterbucks that were on the horizon. This light lasted about a minute. #Day5 #ClementWild
