The evolution of a picture: started as a contributor’s page photo for artforum, then a book cover for the show Freeway Balconies I curated for Berlin Gugenheim ( thank you @nespector ) became a t-shirt, was a post on Richard Prince’s instagram, was collected by Sebastian Girard, turned into what looks like a record sleeve, but seems to be a book. I never rode a motorcycle. But i did smoke.
Rose’s book and walk, when we talk admidst the traveling circus, always deep and moody with rose. She said she was nervous during the show ‘When i was walking i wanted someone to give me an upper cut with a newspaper’This is my high school now.
Shooting Louis Vuitton AW 19 in Paris backstage at Bastille Opera at 1am after A performance of Carmen. I remember feeling so much excitement that night like i did when i went to Danceteria or the Palladium. All the models sat on director’s chairs waiting for their turn to be photographed. They all looked so beautiful and disguised like ready for a masked ball. Tha k you @nicolasghesquiere for sharing this all with me.
The most of youth, when you find yourself in front of it and doubt you ever knew what that felt like. Not because it was long ago but because no one ever looked at you when you looked back. And you keep this picture and look again and think- is there anyway this is actually mine. What a folly to think you could capture it then. When it needed to age to become something permissable.
Thank you @nangoldinstudio Taking one’s personal experience even further into the public. An artist taking on a family dynasty that makes money off peoples pain @sacklerpain#nobelPeacePrizeNanGoldin#FreeRehab PS. this post is a celebration of community building. I want people to feel a joy in seeing a human being’s evolution as an artist and a survivor.
