There aren’t many things as overwhelming as becoming a parent for the first time. You just want to do the right thing. That’s why a re-elected Labor Government will provide free Baby Bundles with essential products and information to new parents. Nappy bags. Teething rings. Safe sleeping bags. Muslin wraps. Picture books to help with development. The lot. And we’ll source as much of it from local suppliers as we can – supporting local jobs along the way. Only Labor will deliver it. #vicvotes
If our Labor Government is re-elected, we will fund free dental care for ALL primary and secondary school students at ALL government schools.
That includes a yearly check-up at school, plus x-rays, fillings, root canals or extractions if needed. Everything except cosmetic procedures. All free of charge. And at the end of 2021, we will review the program with a view to expanding it to low-fee Catholic and independent schools as well. We know good oral health starts early and we know private dental care is expensive. So we’ll make things so much more affordable for parents, while ensuring the lifelong oral health of a generation of kids. This sort of thing is what Labor Governments are all about. Not cuts, closures and corporations – but health, school and families. And if we’re re-elected next week, we’ll get it done. #vicvotes
This is big. A re-elected Labor Government will transform the old Geelong Private Hospital into a public Geelong Women’s and Children’s Hospital – giving locals the very best care, closer to home. #vicvotes
I was with Charlie when we announced we would ban fracking in legislation, and I was with him again today to announce that a re-elected Labor Government will ban fracking in the Constitution. It’s the right thing to do – for farmers and for future generations. #vicvotes
Met some health workers in Ararat to announce a re-elected Labor Government will invest an extra $100 million to upgrade regional hospitals and health services across the state. This is for them – and they’re worth every cent. #vicvotes
Over the past four years, we’ve ordered 87 new regional carriages. And if we’re re-elected, we’ll order 54 more – supporting even more local jobs. Made in Victoria, for Victoria, by Victorian workers. Only Labor will get it done. #vicvotes
As a parent, I know there’s nothing more terrifying than when your child gets sick. Our hospitals do a great job, but tailored emergency departments will make sure kids get the best care – and only Labor will build them. #vicvotes
I've been in touch with the Prime Minister and the head of ASIO, and Cabinet’s Counter Terrorism Committee has been briefed by the Chief Commissioner of Police. Police work is still ongoing, and those who are injured are getting the best of care.
My thoughts are with family of the man who died yesterday. I knew him – many of us did. He was an incredible person. The family have asked us not to name him at this point. I will respect those wishes – and ultimately, I hope that he is someone who will be remembered for his life on Bourke Street, not his death.
I also want to say this:
There are tens of thousands of people at the races today. There are people getting married in the city. People are going about their business today in positive and defiant ways. Because we will not be diminished, we will not be defined and we will not be deterred by this act of evil. We are all so much bigger than that. Our values make us that way. Values of inclusion, fairness, and looking out for each other. And tomorrow, on Remembrance Day, there will be a chance for us all to affirm those values, and honour the men and women who fought and died defending them. I'll be at a service, and I hope you can get to one, too. Thank you – everyone – for your cooperation, your compassion and your resolve.
Labor’s plan for Victoria: 100 new schools across the state, and from 2021, every new public primary school we build will also include a kindergarten. Some politicians like to close schools. I’m for opening them – and giving every child every chance. #vicvotes
