Photo by @amivitale | Elephants are among the world's most intelligent species. They express a wide variety of behaviors, including those associated with grief, learning, altruism, use of tools, compassion, self-awareness, memory, and language. Researchers recently discovered that elephants can distinguish differences in human gender, age, and ethnicity purely by the sound of someone’s voice.

Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (@r.e.s.c.u.e), in northern Kenya is the first ever community-owned and run elephant sanctuary in Africa. The sanctuary provides a safe place for injured elephants to heal and later, be returned back to the wild.

Reteti operates in partnership with Conservation International (@conservationorg) who provide critical operational support and work to scale the Reteti community-centered model to create lasting impacts worldwide.

Ranier at Tipsoo Lake,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Archana Bhat. “The kids were SO excited to go on an adventure with mom. I packed up their favorite hot chocolate, fruits, snacks, and treats. We watched Mt. Ranier glow bright that morning, and then walked around Naches Loop for a 6AM hike! The kids then saw Mt. Adams and clouds rolling in the distance and were completely enamored with the views. Such a memorable trip to a national treasure.” // Join @Nature_Valley in supporting the national parks by hiking your local trails. Hello, world! Meet today’s #WeeklyFluff: Nelly (@missenell), a Ragdoll-Birman cat mix who’s just looking for a way to cool off. 😻 🍉 “Last week, it was extremely hot in Denmark, so we brought a watermelon home to have a cool summer treat,” says her human Mikkel, a nursing student. “Before we knew it, Nelly climbed onto the watermelon and just sat there. It was quite the sight.”
