251-257/365: Over the last two years, @traveljunkiediary and I have been bringing travellers together, (through @travelwithtjd) to create memorable adventures north of the Arctic Circle. From the Scandinavian countries, to Iceland; we’ve curated trips to some pretty unique destinations.. but none quite as unique as this. Svalbard wasn’t on my radar until recently, but quickly made its way to the top of my bucket list. One of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas, it's known for its rugged, remote terrain of glaciers and frozen tundra sheltering polar bears, Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes. If this sounds like somewhere you’d like to explore, stay tuned for more info on our #travelwithtjd group trip in May 2020. #visitsvalbard

247-250/365: A few short days in Vancouver before heading off to an undisclosed location. Thought I’d get caught up with my photo project, before sharing some images from the next adventure. Stay tuned.

238-246/365: Spent the last week offline, enjoying time with family and friends. It never seems like there’s enough time, when visiting home. Over the last week I’ve been a part of one of my best friends wedding, visited family I haven’t seen in years, and caught up with some of the most important people in my life. There wasn’t a lot of time for photos or social media, but I did sneak in a few daily photos. To everyone that I didn’t have a chance to catch up with, I’ll be home soon ❤️ #gogetitmurph

231-237/365: This last week in photos. It’s been a challenging week creativity wise, but I’ve spent a lot of time researching my new photography endeavour. I’ll always been drawn to film, learning with a manual camera over 10 years ago. It’s finally time to reconnect with this passion. Can’t wait to share the images I create with my new medium format camera, arriving later this week. In the meantime, I’ll stick to digital to keep up with my daily photo project. Ps. Any tips, advice or film nerds - feel free to slide in the dms 😘

A surreal experience on a remote island, near Tromsø, chasing the midnight sun. The last few days I’ve been reflecting on our recent adventures with @travelwithtjd. In a couple weeks, we’ll be kicking off our second season of travel, north of the Arctic Circle. Although it’s been a relatively short amount of time, the Scandinavia countries are beginning to feel like home. Can’t wait to share these locations with a new group of travellers! #travelwithtjd

As a photographer, I’ve always been afraid of the colour orange. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been trying to incorporate more orange and yellow into my images. I guess you could say, I’m warming up to it. #dadjokes

Heading back to Norway in a few weeks to explore a new location for our upcoming @travelwithtjd trips. Any guesses where we’re going? Hint: far north (not Tromsø)

@abbey.yoga in her element. A photo from almost 5 years ago, during my last 365 project. Feeling a bit nostalgic today, so I thought I’d share a throwback to desert adventures with my favourite human. ps.@visit.dubai, how about a reunion trip back? #mydubai

224-230/365: It’s been quite the week for photos. Although I’ve had my busiest week this year, the frequent trips to Squamish and a road trip to Banff certainly made it easier to capture my daily photo. #explorecanada

Over the last few months, I’ve been exploring the meaning of the word “Content”. Used as a noun, it’s defined as “the things that are held or included in something.” We see this definition used on social media to summarize images or bodies of work. Social Media creators will say things like “your content is fire” (cringe). Although I love so many creators that use the word content, I feel as though it turns the creative process into a transactional one. Content, as a noun, makes creating photos sound like you’re doing it for others or that it’s about the likes.
The reason I bring this up, is the word content, can have a totally different meaning. Used as an adjective, content means “in a state of peaceful happiness”. It can also mean “satisfied with a certain level of achievement, good fortune, etc., and not wishing for more”. Ultimately, in a word filled with consumerism and the need for more.. I’m hoping we can all be a little more content (adjective), before consuming content (noun). #contentovercontent #content

217-223/365: A collection of photos from the last week. It’s been incredibly busy here on the west coast. With a few work trips to Squamish and many late nights, I’ve had little time to focus on my daily photos. One more hectic week, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. ✌🏻

Finland reminds me a lot of Eastern Canada. From the lakes, forests and wildlife; the Finns have an incredible appreciation and respect for their home. Although @traveljunkiediary and I have spent a lot of time here in the winter, we’ve decided to open up summer trips with @travelwithtjd. It’s truly a magical experience year round and we want to share that with all of you. One of the highlights of our late spring trip, was an early morning spent on the lake, only steps from our cabin. Can’t wait to return! Check out @travelwithtjd with so many opportunities to join us! #travelwithtjd

210-216/365: This past week in photos. @abbey.yoga and I both celebrated birthday’s this week, so we took some time away from social media and work to recharge. It was a refreshing few days, spending time with @fun_with_finnigan and enjoying the summer weather 😊

In celebration of my 30th birthday, I thought I’d share one of my favourite photos from the last year. After almost 10,000kms of driving, (from Vancouver to Toronto and back), we found ourselves on a dirt road in Saskatchewan. With only a few hours of sleep, I woke to this incredible display of light. Swipe right to check out the original unedited photo. Ps. Thanks for all the messages and bday love ❤️

203-209/365: One of the reasons I’ve decided to share my daily photos in weekly updates is to experiment more with my photography, while still sharing the images you’ve come here for. Ultimately, I’m working on creating a time capsule of my life, to share with friends, family and my kids (one day). I’ve spent the last week focusing on memories and moments that will add context to future stories I’ll tell and highlight the important people in my life. As always, thanks for following along 😌

Africa will always have a special place in my heart. Our second morning in the Maasai Mara started off with quite the sunrise. I remembered seeing this tree on our first game drive and asked if we could swing by before setting off in search of the big 5. It was truly and incredible experience, with some amazing humans. A trip I’ll never forget. #kenya

Daydreaming about colder days spent above the Arctic Circle. For some reason, polar sunsets have a distinct pink and purple hue. The sunset seems to hang in the day, as the sun stays low on the horizon. The freezing air keeps the clouds at bay. It’s a simple thing, but I feel as though the polar sunrise and sunset are overshadowed by the Aurora or other polar activities. It just might be my favourite part about Lapland. @traveljunkiediary#ourfinland

With summer in full swing, the heat has me reminiscing about Dubai. Here are a few throwbacks to days spent high above the city and mornings spent exploring the meandering alleys of Deira. Thinking I need to make a trip back soon! #mydubai

197-202/365: Back with my weekly update of my 365 project. Another busy week with a short trip to Seattle and a day in Whistler. It can be challenging traveling to some incredibly photogenic places and missing out on great photo ops due to time constraints. Although it’s been a challenge to take photos, I still feel grateful for natural beauty of the west coast.

Jet lag has its perks. It’s important to look at the bright side of things. Here’s a throw back to one of my favourite sunrises I’ve witnessed, thanks to a confused body clock and a sleepless night. #hellobc

One of the reasons I’ve decided to share my daily photos once a week, is to create some space to share more about our future @travelwithtjd plans. For those of you that don’t know, @traveljunkiediary and I have been organizing trips to Polar destinations for anyone to take part in. We keep the group sizes small to build relationships and share unique experiences in the Arctic. In September, Michelle and I are heading to Svalbard to scope out a new destination (which includes Polar Bears!). Super excited to be apart of this and can’t wait to share more from the upcoming trips. Check out @travelwithtjd to come along! #travelwithtjd

186-196/365: over the last 10 days, I’ve struggled to share my daily photo. A slight creative block, but a challenge balancing my work commitments and creative endeavours. Over the last few days, I’ve been playing with a few ideas to create a balance in the work I’m sharing and the purpose behind my photography. I’ve decided to share my daily photo project on a weekly basis, with 7 new ‘daily photos’ every Sunday. This way, I can find some time to bring you more stories behind recent trips, past adventures and a wider variety of images. Look forward to seeing more highlights from the last year, new unreleased images, and my daily photo project. Thanks for the support and can’t wait to share more ✌🏻

Interrupting my ‘daily’ photo project to bring you a recent image from Norway. Watching the sun touch the horizon and rise again during the midnight sun, has been one of my favourite experiences. Feeling really grateful that we get to share our passion for the polar regions with groups of adventurous humans from around the world. We have some super exciting trips planned for the end of this year, including Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Svalbard. Follow along with @travelwithtjd to learn more ❄️ #norway

170-172/365: Celebrated summer solstice by staying up late and visiting a few local landmarks that needed to be ticked off the bucket list. The later sunsets have been a blessing and a curse, providing a few extra hours to snag a photo of the day... and stealing a couple hours of sleep at the same time. Feeling grateful to live in such a beautiful place. #hellobc #vancouver

164/365: Had an absolute blast sharing some of my favourite Vancouver spots with some east coast legends. @gavin.hatheway and @dave.culligan are in town for a project and stopped by for a quick tour of the city. For those of you that aren’t familiar, @dave.culligan completely blew my 365 project out of the water, creating a daily video for an entire year. Both Dave and Gav are inspirations and it was great to show them around. A slice of home, here on the West Coast. #hellobc

154-157/365: A quick recap from the last few days after arriving back in Vancouver from Finland. Struggling with jet lag and catching up with work, but I’ve appreciated the late sunsets. It’s starting to feel like summer here on the west coast. ✌🏻
