Photojournalist Desmond Boylan and his dog Rocky at the dinner table in their Havana, Cuba home. Desmond died suddenly while on assignment yesterday. He was a genuine, big hearted, cigar puffing man and a distinguished news photographer whose pictures were printed on the covers of magazines and front pages of newspapers for decades. I was lucky to work with him in India, Iraq and other far-flung places and major world events. The last time I saw him we shared a 1959 Buick for six days while following Fidel Castro’s funeral cortège across Cuba. I’m sending love to his wife Gloria, son Michael and Rocky.
