The football team in Hazleton is very reflective of the town’s dramatic demographic changes. The high school principal Rocco Petrone, who used to be the football coach, said the team was mostly white 15 years ago. Now almost half the players are minorities. The high school is 59% Latino and 38 % white. These images were taken at Crestwood High School before and after Hazleton’s big win. The students told me they were especially nervous for this game because they were playing the “uppity white school” where racial slurs had been yelled at them during basketball games. One cheerleading coach said she’s heard Crestwood students scream. “Go back and get your green card.”

With My Son | Photograph by Stefan “Fuarce” Zocca (@stefano.zocca)
“At almost 60 years of age, it [was] not easy to decide to again face the huge adventure that I had taken as a young man,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Stefano Zocca. “Last fall with my second son, I made the decision and together we faced the difficult climb to the Bell Tower of Val Montanaia, the most famous peak of the Fruilian Dolomites, and slept in the bivouac that lies just below. The moment of dinner, alone in the immensity of the starry sky, was a magical experience that we will keep in our heart forever.”

“I love it Stefano. I love the experience you documented. Great use of available light. Then after reading your caption, and learning the story behind the photo, I love this frame even more. I can only imagine how beautiful this moment was for you — and your son. I love that you shared this adventure with him. I bet it was so special. Thank you for sharing this photo and story with us. Well done. Very, very well done.” — @natgeoyourshot Producer David Y. Lee (@davidylee)

In honor of #EarthDay, the goal is to take photos and videos inspired by the natural world for #WHP🌲, like this purple beauty from Rubén Lombardozzi (@rubenslombardo).
Get outside. Whether you hike in a city park or escape away to a lake for the weekend, show us how Mother Earth comes to life in your corner of the world. Pull back your images to show the grandeur of the landscape. Include people in the frame for scale.
Look for ways that nature emerges in everyday urban scenes — think vines crawling up an old brick factory building, or birds perched along the balcony railings overlooking the farmers market.
Follow the light. The sun gives the world a magical glow, especially in the early morning blue hour or the late afternoon golden hour.
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHP🌲 hashtag only to photos and videos shared over this weekend and only submit your own visuals to the project. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged photo or video shared over the weekend is eligible to be featured next week.

#followmeto Hollywood, which was one of the most extreme photos we ever took. It was the time, when I surprised Nataly with a helicopter without doors :) #следуйзамной к Голливудским Холмам. Наш проект существует уже 7 лет и за это время сменилось целое поколение. Нам интересно - видели ли вы эту фотографию раньше? :)
