In the Manny Machado Era, the Dodgers are 1-0! Anyway, the 1st game of this tough stretch was a success for the Boys in Blue! Rich Hill was good today as he pitched 6 innings of 1 run ball! He walked 4 batters, but made it up by punching out 9! His final line: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 9 SO. The Dodgers got on the board with the help of a passed ball in the 3rd to make it 1-0 Dodgers! After a 1-1 tie going into the 7th, Chris Taylor hit an RBI (42) single to put the Dodgers on top 2-1! Later in the inning, Max Muncy continues where he left off in the 1st half with an RBI (42) double to make it 3-1 Dodgers! The Dodgers got some much needed insurance after Kiké hit a 3-Run HR (17) to put the Dodgers up 6-2 which would be crucial going into the bottom of the 9th! So how did Machado do in his debut? Pretty good! He went 2-3 with 2 walks to reach base 4 times tonight! You could tell the Brewers were pitching him very carefully all throughout the game. That’s pretty much what you expect to see going forward from opposing pitchers. Great way to start the 2nd half! Kershaw gets the ball tomorrow! #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
The Dodgers begin the 2nd half starting off in Milwaukee! This will be a tough stretch for them as they will play the Brewers, Phillies, Braves, and the Astros. All of them are playoff caliber teams. In order to make room for Machado on the roster, the Dodgers optioned Toles to Triple-A. #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
As the 2nd half of the season starts tomorrow, this is where the Dodgers currently stand in the NL West. When they were 16-26 to start the season, a lot of people left them for dead, but they found their mojo and started winning again to put them a half game ahead of the D-Backs in the NL West! I see the Dodgers breaking this division open soon, especially after the Machado trade. Then when you consider them trading for a bullpen arm or two, the Dodgers will be in a very strong position to catapult themselves above everyone else in the National League.
For me, I see this division as a 2-horse race and I only say that because I believe run differential is a strong indicator of how teams have and will perform in the future. For the most part, it’s correct more often than not. The Dodgers are at a +82 run differential, while the D-Backs are at a +43 run differential. Everyone else has a negative run differential, but the Rockies are basically hovering around 0. It’s going to be a fun 2nd half for the Dodgers, and I’m excited to be a part of it! #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired SS Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for 5 prospects. The prospects going to the Orioles are: OF Yusniel Diaz (Dodgers’ No. 4 Prospect), 3B Rylan Bannon (Dodgers’ No. 27 Prospect), RHP Dean Kremer (Dodgers’ No. 28 Prospect), RHP Zach Pop, and 2B Breyvic Valera.
Machado is a 4x All-Star, 2x Gold Glove Winner, and has a current slash line of .315/.387/.575 along with 24 Home Runs and 65 RBIs. He also has a wRC+ of 156 and an OPS+ of 164. In other words, he’s been elite on offense.
The Dodgers, who have the most Home Runs in the NL, just got another power bat with the hopes of not just winning the NL West again and not just winning the NL Pennant again, but also winning their 1st World Series in 30 years. The best part about this deal is that they are able to keep Alex Verdugo, Yadier Álvarez, Dustin May, and Gavin Lux. Since they only gave up one of their top 10 prospects considering Machado’s talent, I’d say this is a big win for the Dodgers! #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
At least they didn’t lose the Freeway Series! With their win today they split the Series this year behind Kershaw’s performance and homers from Grandal and Kiké! Kershaw’s only mistake was a 3-Run Homer, but other than that he was good. His final line: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 SO. Grandal got the Dodgers on the board with a Solo HR (13) in the 2nd inning to make it 1-0 Dodgers! There was a sacrifice fly by Kiké, and Kershaw even helped his own cause with an RBI (1) single in the 2nd inning to put the Dodgers up 3-0! With the game tied 3-3 in the 7th, Kiké hit a Solo HR (16) to put the Dodgers up 4-3! The Dodgers got an insurance run in the 8th inning with the help of an RBI (4) single by Andrew Toles to make it 5-3! Jansen came in for the save in the 9th and shut it down! His velocity was better than last night where he couldn’t do any better than 91 MPH. Now the next time we see baseball it’ll be tomorrow at the Home Run Derby where we will all be cheering on Max Muncy! Then on Tuesday you have the All-Star Game where Kemp, Jansen, and Stripling will all be participating in! The Dodgers finish the 1st half of the season 10 games above .500 with a 53-43 record! After that rough start of 16-26, I believed they would be around .500 at the All-Star Break, but they went beyond my expectations and I couldn’t be happier! Oh yeah, and they enter the Break 0.5 games up on the D-Backs for 1st place in the NL West! #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
Dodgers will be looking to win the series and splitting the Freeway Series this year. Kershaw is on the mound for the Dodgers. This will be the final game for the Dodgers in the 1st half and the next time you’ll see a Dodger player is Max Muncy tomorrow in DC hitting bombs. #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
I know the Dodgers lost, but can we just appreciate Chase Utley one more time? Starting off with a single and hustling around to score! The Sliver Fox
SCORE: Angels 4, Dodgers 4 in 9th inning.

What a disappointing game. My gosh, the Angels literally tried to give this game to the Dodgers, but the Dodgers kept on shooting themselves in the foot. Alex Wood started this game terribly. After giving up 3 runs on 6 hits in 2 IP, Alex Wood settled down big time by completing 4 scoreless innings while allowing just 1 hit. His final line: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO. Floro gave up his 1st run as a Dodger, then Jansen gave up a home run to Calhoun to lose the game. Now let’s get to the important parts. The Dodgers blew 3 straight innings to score! It was absolutely ridiculous. In the 8th inning, Dodgers had runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out with Bellinger at the plate, and he had an absolutely terrible at bat. He took two fastballs down the middle, and ended up striking out. In the 9th inning, the Dodgers had the winning run at 2nd with 0 outs, and ended up not scoring. Ever heard of a bunt? In the 10th inning, Andrew Toles hit a ball to LF in which Upton messed up on, but Toles decided to be the umpire himself and ended up staying at 2nd instead of being at 3rd. That’s completely unacceptable and Dave Roberts’ face said it all as he looked with complete frustration. Him being at 3rd changes the entire inning with 1 out. Completely frustrating. More takeaways from the game: Jansen was averaging around 90 MPH with his velocity and that’s really low, Chris Taylor is on pace to be the Dodgers’ new strikeout king with 181 strikeouts in a single season to break the record, and the Dodgers went 2-14 with RISP (0-12 in their last opportunities with RISP). #Dodgers#ITFDB#DodgerStadium#LADodgers#GoDodgers
