Photo by @CristinaMittermeier // You think you are going to get me!!! I found this very large Madagascar freshwater crab on a remote rural road in Madagascar. My driver wanted to run it over it but I persuaded him to stop instead so I could take a photo. You can watch a video of how I approached this “unwilling” subject at @CristinaMittermeier.

SENIOR SUNDAY! @susiesseniordogs wants to know: has Candy caught your eye?! This 12 year old sweet-tart is looking for her forever candy crush! Before getting rescued, little Candy lived a life of neglect. The final straw was when she fell off a balcony - likely because she could not see and she walked off the ledge while nobody was watching her. Thankfully, Candy was brought to @animalhaven shelter in Manhattan, NYC and received a whole lot of vet care. Candy is now up for adoption and ready to find a responsible forever home. This little senior sugarpop is looking for her equally sweet, special someone!
Candy is completely blind but it does not hinder her ability to love one bit! She also has a few "old lady growths" but is otherwise OK. She weighs just 10 pounds. Candy's ideal home would be one that is filled with lots of quiet time to relax and simply hangout during the day. Candy does not need much other than a human who enjoys pampering old pups! She gets along with other calm and friendly dogs and cats - but a home without rambunctious toddlers would be best for Candy. She loves to eat and to be spoiled and would truly thrive in a doting home.
If you wish to learn more about Candy, please visit her at @animalhaven shelter located at 200 Centre Street, Manhattan, NYC. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 7PM. (@animalhaven currently has many senior dogs in their care who are looking for adopters, please visit the shelter and ask to meet with a senior!)

Years and years of erosion have formed this meandering sandstone canyon in Utah's Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Below, vegetation thrives on the banks of the river that has cut through the stone for so long.

Today we are featuring @natgeoyourshot photographs selected for @natgeo “Photo of the Day.” To see more, go to

Follow @argonautphoto (Aaron Huey) on assignment in the slot canyons of #EscalanteNationalMonument in Utah today in our IG Story feed. We are looking at sites that were recently removed or otherwise affected when the Monument was shrunk by around %50 and split into 3 smaller units by Executive Order. The Zebra slots (carved over thousands of years by water in red and white striped sandstone) were not removed but the trail to get to them, and the larger buffer area around them was. This opens the area for potential resource extraction in the future. Watch the IG story feed and follow @argonautphoto in the coming days for other views and videos from these slots!
